If people can dye their parts black why not a different color.... I tried some color matching and came up with this 6:1 ( teal : blue ) . Pretty close to the paint color just a little darker. Went super dark with the AV plugs for some contrast. DSCN5196.JPG

That's funny! I did not realize that was almost one of the colors that I was using. You made me run and compare with my cut off saw. Phew - the saw color is different but the dye took better than I thought it would and went too dark with too much blue. I guess a 6:1 ratio was still too high. On a good note the neighbor was throwing out 2 65 ft sections of 1:0 copper cable so I grabbed it for scrap and have and extra 75 chainsaw bucks. Will be picking up more paint......
    Here's a better pic:

AAAAAAAHH!!! Went and cleared the already painted parts and it all went milky due to the humidity! :headbang: Wish I would have known that before. Time to start over on the paint. It will be a while till this project gets finished.

It stung seeing it all go white. It is what it is. No stopping now. Quick sand prime and repaint in the next few days or so. Everything else is in but the drum, rim and chain to put it together. I still have a bunch of other stuff to do in between coats. When done will do a prelim assembly with no rings just to see how it all looks. Take it apart and finish.

I am so done with painting!

I changed my mind with the gray- went darker with flake. All of the accent parts are now dark gray flake. The covers are back to the original teal after the ugly cloudy clear coat last eve. The tank took the teal paint real nice.

OK - last pic and post for quite a while. The green poking through under the one cover is a piece of wood underneath. Have to start on the case, muffler, cylinder, and shine up the spike/dawg- don't know what order. Part 2 will be all of that.

Update- new bearings and seals and back together. Recoil back together. Case painted. 15 thou taken off of flywheel key which will make a modest 3.5 degree timing advance- can't put that back on until I get to the jug.

New way to stop crank from turning when taking off clutch and flywheel. Everything was super tight and did not want to put pressure on the connecting rod - plus had the jug off. 15/16 nut wrapped with duct tape - puts pressure on the crank and case. DSCN5208.JPG DSCN5210.JPG

Winding recoil spring. Nailed down to 2 x 4 in vise. Had to take a break so grabbed the vise grips. DSCN5229.JPG

A couple mock up picks - nothing is together. There is still quite a bit to do. I was curious to see what it looked like. I know - looks like a Makita. I promise the colors are different. DSCN5243.JPG DSCN5244.JPG
