Me? Drx? No. I had a 2253, but will be getting my new Husq 550xp in the mail tomorrow and Jchin will be receiving his J-Red 2253 on Friday in the mail. Well, I am 3 tanks into this 036. Did a Muff mod and port matched the exhaust port. This thing runs good. I brought my MS 460 back here to do most of the cutting and have not even Un - strapped it from the ATV. At this rate, I may keep this one. It runs Good!!
Ran 4 full tanks through it and I am torn between keeping it or selling it like I had planned. My other 036 will likely run as good or better with what I am doing to it, but in stock form, it didn't run as good as this one did today I was thoroughly impressed.
I just put my 036 together that started my CAD. Now to compare it against the one I ran today (saw in this thread). This one should run a little better I couldn't get rid of this saw if I wanted to. My 1st Pro saw and still one of my all time favorite platforms. Still has the sticker on the front. Bar code was visible on it when I got it. But not so visible now.
(AcresInternet Chainsaw Specs) ENGINE DISPLACEMENT:54cc (3.3 cu. in.) NUMBER OF CYLINDERS:1 CYLINDER BORE:45 mm (1.77 in.) PISTON STROKE:34 mm (1.34 in.) CYLINDER TYPE:Aluminum with chrome plated bore INTAKE METHOD:Piston ported MANUFACTURER ADVERTISED H.P.:3.9 hp (2.9 kW) WEIGHT :5.5 kg (11.9 lbs.), powerhead only vs. it's modern day ?replacement? Nearly a pound lighter but just doesn't cross that 4 HP line.....
The closest modern day saw spec wise to the 254xp would probably be the ms261... 254xp 4.1 -- 11.9 ms261 3.75 -- 11.6 550xp 3.75 -- 10.8
I'd say lets cut until the tanks are dry but damm that would probably be close..... The 254XP has a 4oz advantage there too....
4 ounces or an extra 1/3 hp... I've never used a ms 261, would be fun to try them out together. Seems like Stihl had the 254 in mind when they designed the 261.
The 260 ain't got the stones the 261 has. It's lighter, more compact, but just ain't got the big cahones.
I know you've been looking, and actually factored that in to the purchase. If the wife goes ballistic over another saw or it doesn't measure up to the 346, you'll be the first to know Dex. It should arrive ready to go (160 on the compression gauge) and it is in very nice shape cosmetically. I'll give her a little cleaning once she arrives and post some pics.
