    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jetstream_furnace

This sentence is from the above file .
The Jetstream produced approximately 0.1 grams/hours of soot while EPA certified woodstoves produce up to 7.2 grams per hour.

This technology has been around and in production since 1981!

I know of at least one current stove that does meet or beat that, at least in the tests - not very popular however.

    Hint - BBar owns one.

Yes but it also says: The high combustion chamber velocities do result in fine particulate flyash being ejected from the stack.

It would be interesting to determine just how much flyash is being ejected? This picture was taken at mid burn with the outside air temperature of 5 degrees F ! The air was just hot enough to be uncomfortable to breath , but smelled no different than the air coming out of a register of a hot air furnace!

Our small RV has been parked by this chimney for 4 years with no sign of ash on its roof!

I can't remember what I read from the EPA which is why I put a question mark next to it. It was 1.something an hour. I remember 1.1 but it could have been as high as 1.6 but I know it wasn't more than that. These are numbers the EPA has been floating, the final draft has not been issued for public comment yet.

I'm assuming that guy is on the three day plan and not the three year plan for firewood

1.1GPH is asking an awful lot. for those of us who remember the carnage in the woodstove industry when the Phase 2 standard was enacted its not a thrilling thought. very few stoves out there are in that range its achievable but the constraints might make the stoves literally unusable in real world conditions.

i think reasonable standards can be set which will close the "exempt" loophole, the "furnace" loophole and regulate OWB's to some kind of standard. im sure they can be made to burn clean, but they aren't being forced to be used in a way that they will do so. ive seen those things literally smoke up a whole valley. its amazing how dirty they can be when burned with no stack, green wood , old diapers and whatever was in the fridge that was too fuzzy to feed the dog. i KNOW a guy that has one and burns TIRES in it. its just insane in my opinion
