Working at a steady pace over time, will get a lot of work done when you look back. Nice stack of BTUs Gotta feel pretty darn good to be out working in the woods Soon you'll be healed up enough to be out riding
Kinda figured they were angled but thought I better ask. I guess I'll have to build one and see how it does. Would be allot easier than a log arch if it doesn't cause too much damage. Would like to build something like this but it may be overkill if the sled would work. Also way less time to build.
Second picture shows the atv and dray. No damage skidding them this way and no dirt get into the bark. This is some very easy splitting wood! Child's play.
Hip seems to be okay but not the leg. Not far below the hip is the problem area. Bone is broken and not healing well at all.
Absolutely no problem pulling this with the atv. That's one of the nice things about the dray is that it reduces the drag and you can pull a lot with it even on bare ground. btw, the atv is a 700 Grizzly.
Welcome to the forum Hoosierhick. That ash we hauled out was on the ground. Wood is fine but the roots gave out. We have lots of them like this all over the woods. Some have been down for perhaps 3 or 4 years and probably 99% of it will still be in excellent shape.
No frost at all here. Looks like there won't be for another week at least. However, this is not the first time we've seen this happen but it doesn't happen very often. Also, no snow for December yet except the snow showers Friday. We had enough to cover the ground and I still saw a little bit out there this morning. It should be gone now as it is 40 degrees now. Had 7" snow in November and that is it.
Actually we made this using old scrap landscape timbers and a 2 x 6. It was pretty much all scrap we used except for the bolts I bought. Less than $10 tied up with this.
Jeff, back in the 50's when I was logging this is how we hauled logs out of the woods. Of course, we built them a bit bigger then. Simply put, they work great and it is amazing how much even a small tractor can pull. Very inexpensive to build too and the time to put one together is about an hour, give or take, depending upon how much one is drinking and chatting...
I'm just a young guy that don't know much about this stuff. I really enjoy being outside and feel very accomplished getting a load of wood. Love heating my house and the temps I can get indoors vs. the furnace. I'll defanatly be making one of these. Never thought of it myself. I have a 450 grizzly and some good sized hills. So I'm sure I won't be able to pull a load like that but it'll give me a chance to get some logs out of my woods. Thanks for the ideas.

Just don't do like wishlist did. It took him 2 trys to get it right. But in the end he built a good one. He also made his so he could pull from either end.
