That's basically where I'm at too. I'm making good progress though. I should be set for next year and 2 following years after this spring. I pretty much cut from December until memorial day. I hate cutting when bugs are out, but I will split and stack spring, summer and fall if its cooler out.
That's an amusing statement right there Now-preclude that hearth, bringeth that stove within, burn some wood with fire, and go procure more wood for next year(s) After your back let's up, of course.....
Anyone else put there pallets on old lumber? I've got a supply of old landscape timbers I've been using. Keeps the pallets high and dry.
Yes, some of the wood stacks shown on the forum are rather impressive. Makes my stack of wood nothing in comparison.
You'll find once you do get 3 seasons worth ahead, you'll still want more. I'm better than 7 seasons ahead not counting this one and still want/need more. It's an addiction! Maybe when I get to 15 seasons ahead, I might back off a little. I stack both outside and in a shed. Outside has the cribbed ends stacked 5 feet high on pallets. In the shed, it's all in rows up to 8 feet in height.
I put my pallets up on iron stringers that are leveled with whatever is handy, Sometimes 6x6's or dimensional lumber or more iron and even cookies. It really puts a lot of airspace under.
Like so many things you do, lady- deer slayin the vermints that eat yer roses, gazing at balls of distant gas..... running around yer yard underdressed.....
And with that admission, DO NOT BLAME THE STOVE when you start running into burning problems!!!! And you will!
I need to haul the dead red oak out of the wood; and split it. I still don't own a moisture meter though.
