Raining again this morning. Just happened to have more wood to stack… Could hardly stand in the area left. Next rows can be started standing on the ground. More betterer… Found an old pic of my family in 1984. Kids are sitting on about a cord and a half we hauled 100 miles home from the old farm. You welder guys… that trailer was the first big thing I ever welded. 6' x 12' tandem axle. Most of the welds were gum balled but it held together somehow. Wish I still had it. Oh yeah, be nice if me & my honey still looked like that now… ah… to be young again… I'm a very lucky guy…
I'm looking forward to getting that carport and being able to work out of the rain on a bad day. I didn't even think of that until now. Was moay just concerned about the wood staying out of the weather. But it will be nice to keep dry while working too. Hopefully will have enough space to run a splitter in there too.
Great looking family you have there Stin! Those kids are cute! Looks a bit like Easy Rider meets Little House on Prairie, and I mean that as the highest compliment. Wood shed is looking great too!
"Looks a bit like Easy Rider meets Little House on Prairie"… Ha… you pretty much nailed it. I miss those days a lot.
That's a good looking family there. Definitely got a good thing going with the woodshed and stacking. The splitter rig must be working good for you.
Hard to believe that pic was 30 years ago. My mind just can't get around that… at all… The gear is working great and has let me do a couple 4 hour sessions. Couldn't have even thought about that before. What a difference reaching for a 100 lb round, pushing a button and… it's on the splitter. Your line of work gives you a good perspective too, on why I wanted the head of the boom as high as I could. The pendulum effect works better side to side, the longer the lift line. My son saw it for the first time a few days ago and went nuts. He did a few vids of me grabbing some rounds on his iphone. The whole op is fine for a yard but, having the same thing mounted on a horizontal splitter would be more mobile and quicker to set-up for sure. I'll take the extra set-up time because of the bench height of the vert splitter…
You get all of the special dirt in Mrs Loon's garden yet? Loved the pics of Emma snoozin in that cool dirt…
Sounds nice, stacking under the shed roof to the sound of rain. I was bringing up bucked wood, and got drenched by a pop-up shower...that wasn't as nice. I had just finished loading the quad trailer, so I beat it back up to the house, covered the quad with a sheet of metal roofing, and came inside to dry me and the pooch off. Must be the front coming through; Supposed to get four days of low 60s/low40s. I might have to fire up the stove again! That would be the latest I've ever burned, I believe. So now I'm waiting for this shower end so I can unload the trailer and call it a day. I'm putting this down time to good use...picking off ticks and quaffin' a brew.
Aw man… don't like getting caught in a cold rain. Have we seen your pooch pics yet? Hard to keep track. So many have dogs that co-pilot the work shifts. Awesome.
Lab/Dane, we think... http://firewoodhoardersclub.com/for.../turned-out-to-be-a-decent-little-score.4089/
I hope i am done with that special dirt! Had to go over to the farm and grab a bunch of old pagewire as all 3 of them kept cruzing through it and i'm just waiting to see what happens to the big garden out front as the only protection its gonna have is 6inch ceder rails holding the special dirt in.
Well then, I'll be looking forward to those pics of the lil scoundrel's mess after they "play" in Mom's garden. Pics of those cool first reactions from Mrs Loon would be awesome… Life with our lil buddies can be a challenge… but never boring…
