looks great. Also a nice spot for sun/wind exposure by the looks of it. What species of wood in there? Its not near a flood area is it?
It’s ash, hoping it’s ready for next year. Yeah I’m learning from you folks here, I think I picked a good spot. Biggest & nicest stack I ever built and it’s for the shop I work at.
so the wood is for the shop? ash seasons fast. If that gets full sun and lots of wind if should be ready. I recently purchase a moisture meter for $12 free shipping on ebay. Handy gadget for a hoarder. Thought i knew a lot, but have got quite an education in a short amount of time.
Yes shop where I’m employed. The old boy that used to own the place got tired of buying so much propane & liked chainsaws. So we’ve just kept it up. Helps me stay busy in winter months & now I’m a saw junkie too. Bought a $14 meter last week to play with. The splits I checked were 36-40%, you could almost watch em dry though. By the time we unloaded the bucket u could se they were much drier on outside. Should be good to go by November
Got me on Wed Fanatical1 , It’s heading to the shed... The cord of red oak to the left has stood 4 years...Oh well, it happens to us all every now and then——
Polar HD 1500 with side rails-When I purchased for whatever reason, it was a lot cheaper at Lowes than HD, deliver free to store-It is tough and I have not regretted the purchase-2 trips full of rounds will fill a standard full size truck bed, stacked
Your making some progress... Shed sure looks good with those fresh splits filling it up... Now we just have to stack it only once.
Daz right Fanatical1 - Took day off, headed out to hoard...trailer and splitter being pulled to logging site...Have a great day all!
Nice job on that! The bugs won't eat it either!!! The termites used to eat up my pallets in a couple years time.
Hey, one minute..."..and, I will love you in the morning." That rack may hold a short 1 cord---4' x 4' x 8' cord. May. " The check is in the mail." Now, if you're doing the "rick", or "face", or "banana" cords used in certain regions, then MAYBE 2 cords. Neat rack however.
If you "looked" close, that rack is at least 16' x 4'. The man said just "shy" of two cord. I think he's spot on!
A cord of wood measures at 4' X 4' X 8'. A short cord or face cord measures at 4' X 8' X 16" or 1/3 of a cord (full cord/loggers cord) That rack will hold close to 2 cord as the builder stated.
