I know. That's like Brian asking if I need a stihl to be able to cut faster. Why would I need more than the 2 I've got any way. I only have 2 vehicles to scotch with them.
Like cow crap or cat pizz, depends on how long it had been down. I cut and burnt lots of it camping on the Columbia river this year. Its the only thing that grows on the islands.
Remember i was complaining about my grinder wheel shaking a while back ,well this chain was done with the shaking wheel ,i took the wheel off and ran the center hole of the wheel on the threads of the silvey to open it up some ,it was not seated flat ,it runs smooth now that i did that ,it is the same angles i did the other chain for hedgerow with ,he said it worked ok,it was done with the shakey wheel too ,we only have to do 3 cuts right ,lol ,this chain is just a workchain with the gullets cleaned on the usg first ,i think i may have messed up the rakers by thinning them ,but it is what it is ,if it bogs the saw i know it was a bad decision ,i have no idea what that fancy drive link modification does besides lighten the chain some
I promise not to run the chain race in a hedge cant... Still looking around for the perfect cottonwood log to get a consistent fibered cant to put on the mill...
Yup... Got my eye on a good, clean elm tree that might go close to 24" if the right poplar or cottonwood don't come along.. Nice thing about having the Norwood mill on site, is we can extract a lot more race wood out of a log by milling a hexagonal cant.. That, and I like messing with that mill..
Elm would be ok. It's tough where I'm from but not super hard until it's been down a while. Poplar is a lot softer and easier on chain though.
Come on ........ you cant just leave this hanging out here !! Whats "the fancy drive link mod" that you are referring to ?? Pics would be awesome (or it didn't happen) !! Did you drill holes like the new stuff has ? Make the holes bigger in the already drilled new stuff ? Maybe you are seeing a new style driver with holes compared to the old style with the groove ?
I honestly do not know ,i just sharpened a chain like i normally do and am putting it in a box and sending it to hedge to see how it stacks up against the others ,only thing i tried different was mod the rakers some so it bits a little harder ,otherwise it is my everyday work chain
