There are very few places I want to travel, the misses wants to go to ireland so very bad, I really wouldn't be sad if I never did but it's about the only europe place I would visit... I do like whiskey haha.
Alaska is one place I would love to see and hunt, I would love to go hunting out west also.

Western states are way cheaper to hunt for a non resident, my experience is limited to Idaho. Alaska has very few roads and limited access with out wheelers, boats airplanes. That’s where a lot of the price for a hunt comes from transporting hunters into the hunting spot. For instance my moose hunting area is 20-30 miles of the pavement by side by side, sheep is close to 30-35 miles by side by side then 20-50 miles of walking in the mountains where a machine can’t go. Caribou can be a 60 mile loop by snow machine.

Ya from what I have seen and read there is no close hunting spots in alaska haha, I would say that has to be part of the appeal to it, there's nothing better then to be far out in nature well away from people.

I wish however we do not have a spring bear season here. Thankfully regular bear season is just 4 1/2 months away (hard to believe it's already that close). Best of luck.

What are you going to use for bait? Black bear close to home? I seem to recall there was a certain area for predator management to help the moose(?) somewhere around tok, maybe farther north. Is that still a thing? Is it near you?

Bait with gummy bears and dog food. I am in the middle of the predator control area. 2 grizz and 6 black bears around the house. Plus the brown and black bear tags I have in unit 6.

The bears are a little over populated and are substantially affecting the other game density.

No sows with cubs ( Cubs must be old enough to fend for themselves translation 2-3 years old for the cubs). They want boars to be shot, in addition to the game the take, they will kill cubs to bring the sow back into heat.

Bears catching bears, now I've just about heard it all... either way good luck with the hunt.

My Dad and I are planning on heading up to Valdez for the halibut/Salmon season in Aug for a week with a couple family friends. We'll see how that pans out. Last time it was Sitka. Very nice trip and I'm definitely making sure we go before my dad can't anymore. Reaching 70+ and hoping we can find that barn door to take home.
