Nice work Brad. You certainly put in the overtime.
In the warmer weather when I was doing BL with bugs I’d have a flock of sparrows that always left my site when I came back for the afternoon go around. Always a good thing.

Sure. I grew up in Middlesex county, not far from Raritan Bay. Many times as kids my brothers and I would come in bruised and bloody from hedge apple, or as we called them brainball, fights out in the woods. In more rural Hunterdon County, where I live now, they're even more common.

Thats cool. Not the fights (sounds like stuff i did as a kid as well. Acorns, hickory nuts, berries filled in the role) but in two years ive been a very active member here that ive seen it mentioned this far East. I'm in Connecticut next to New Haven and wonder if any exist around here. If you see any can you post a thread and pics? Thanks for sharing that stack pic!

Yes, I've hoarded and burnt yew. It's a very dense wood, burns hot! A little for kindling is good, a whole load would be too intense.

Well lots more snow...16" give or take. Having cabin fever getting bad and no scores to work in the snow i decided to make my way to my friends, trudge through the snow into the back, shovel some and split some rounds. Pin oak from next door that have been hanging around for a few months. I had tarped them. Split over a face cord. Cold, cloudy, calm day. Air was very crisp. IMG_4075.JPG IMG_4079.JPG
Still 3-4 rows of rounds to split. Got my wood work out! IMG_4080.JPG
Then three cords of BL to split IMG_4076.JPG . If the snow hangs around ill get to these next week.

Nice work brad! That pin oak is some beautiful stuff. How long will that splitting venture hold you over? A day or two?

Another day to split the oak and a few for the locust. I can split a cord in 3-4 hours if i go fast, but i like to enjoy the work. If i finish it all by Friday that'll satisfy me. No warm up or big storms forecasted so i should be :axe:all next week. Dont know about the current score though.
