Looks like fun by the light. How cold was it? Ever get a little fire going? I had a 30 gallon drum at my old place and would sometimes.

Phone said it was 25* as I finished up. I have a short steel lick tub for a fire barrel. I would like to have used it all weekend and in the dark, but has been so dry here I can’t get myself to light an out door fire. I haven’t had a fire yet this winter while working up firewood. We need some snow or any moisture badly. Getting a light dusting now but I don’t think it will be enough to allow for a fire by the next time I get to do wood.

I imagine its always breezy there too. Smart move with no fire.

I got in a little night splitting this evening. I’ve never had to deal with mud problems that many of you talk about, until this year. So I figured I’d get the pickup loaded with splits tonight and haul it to the stacks in the morning while the mud is still a bit frozen from overnight. 55DC9FC1-342E-4787-9D9F-7B7DAC118207.jpeg

I was on 7AM-7PM shift this past week, so under the lights was the only time to "Git'ter Done". 0226232243_HDR.jpg 0302232230_HDR.jpg

The PU is an excellent transport vehicle for splits...even if its just across the yard. We've had a resurgence of mud here with the snow and rain.

I’m fortunate that it’s such a short distance from log storage area to the stacks that I don’t have to use my tailpipe to be really efficient

Pickup load of blue spruce from the Loaded truck pics.
Just under 2 hours. With all the knots this stuff will give elm a run for its money in the tough to split category D4920025-627F-4ED6-AC7A-15274A183253.jpeg 595EB8C5-F3E7-425F-8FE9-E502F4A3E9E7.jpeg

With the clock change tonight splitting (among other firewooding activities) in the dark will be the norm for the next few months! :headbang:

No cutting but have assembled bundles with a couple Dewalt gooseneck flashlight dangling from my ladder racks. Ive loaded in the dark at storage. PITA but it is what it is.

Ill be setting up a new permanent bundling station next to our deck for the four cords of bundle wood stacked here at the house. It should be ready for sale very soon. Should have done it years ago. Ill have the house spotlight too help brighten the area up too. I keep mostly bundle wood here and at the shed build location.

Unfortunately this is true. Gone after today is the ability to get anything done after work that you can't easily light up with spotlights, headlights, etc.

I recently tried a couple of those 3 panel LED lights...love 'em! Replaced the flood light on the side of the garage with one and I was working out there for about an hour after dark last night...works great! These were just cheapies that I bought at Menards to try, but I am a fan and will buy more (and better ones) on the next trip (Black Friday?)

Did have the air bags installed, what a difference!! Do it, you’ll be glad you did! Trust me! That and some good inexpensive LED lights.
