So I couldnt help but head for the long awaited ash score today, and whack a few rounds. Zero sleep, and errands done, hitting the score was the last to do item. We went without the trailer, just to split, and be governed by how we felt, not being compelled to fill the trailer. It was a cool day with a perfect breeze. No sweat worked up, just a nice relaxing chop session. Maybe 1/4 cord of Ash was split in an hour. The dog kept us entertained as usual. This is still the wood BuZZsaw helped us cut. There's maybe a cord or two left to split, and a cord yet to be cut to shorts for a friend. Sca

Who says it all needs to be processed all at once? A little here and there, gets it done. Nice looking splits! Hoard on!
It felt good to stretch out, even for a little while. Wood was colder, frost under some. Splitting was pretty easy. It is nice not to have to hustle. As Midwinter said, it's a productive compulsion. and the Boy and I had a few minutes hanging out. But, it's also nice to focus on house chores for a bit. Those little things make a huge difference. I hard wired LED lights into our stairwell. I added shelves in there as well, and wired a 4 gang outlet box for battery recharging. DeWalt batteries will be charged there, and we got a 10 port USB hub/charger for the charging shelf. we'll charge dog collar, headlamps, whatever else there. All out of sight. Not actively wooding, currently. I have my eyes on a dead standing ash, here on the property. It's a leaner. I'll probably get it horizontal, after Thanksgiving, some time. I don't have any inventory ready to start filling empty racks. I'll have one in a couple of weeks.
I'm hoping to leave a little splitting/cutting to be done on warmer days in winter. There's not much like getting a little work out after being cooped up a few weeks of cold weather. We had an ongoing challenge w Brad a couple years back, to see about splitting shirtless in 30*. Pic posted here somewhere, but it was fun to do. Not sure if the neighbors were aghast or jealous, but we were out there for a couple hours splitting by hand in 30*.
