No log lift for me yet:headbang: I use that two rounds at a time trick as well when working the smaller stuff. Short stroking is also a nice benefit of the wide wedge....also means you don't have to chase the round off the end of a wedge on beam splitter. Here is a decent shot of one of the bigger ones.

You could build the same thing as I did, also using your trailer as the boom base. That way, you could use it both at the site where you're getting the rounds onto the trailer, and then lifting off the trailer onto your splitter (horiz or vertical) at your stacking location. If you don't care about speed, just go straight from the elec winch, or add elec hydraulic boom lift capability. The 12' boom makes the lift line long enough for easy moving of the rounds sideways. My 3 to 1 rope lift line speeds up the line to about the time it takes to bend over and pick up a piece. Here's what I did...

Stinny, I like the hoist setup. The smaller single axle trailer we have was purchased with the thought of adding a log lift attachment to it. This way if we're not splitting we can still hoard rounds and haul them to the shop for splitting later. Thank you everyone!
