I am still shopping for a good used truck. I am now checking fuel mileage; there are sites where people report fuel mileage from everyday use and not just what the manufacture states. I was looking at a really nice used F150 but the highway mileage was 19 (V8) and I was thinking of also using the truck as a daily driver. I am now thinking V6 over the V8 engines. If fuel goes to $4.00/gallon here that will be a game changer in what sort of truck I get. I hate not getting that truck, it was sharp looking, clean, interior was like new; but the fuel mileage? It sold so doesn't matter now.

Yes, I was thinking that people might start trying to sell things to help make ends meet. Toys are nice but they don't keep the lights on.

When you drive a truck you have to accept it’s not going to get great gas mileage. Especially if your not doing much highway driving.

    Are saws toys?
They don't keep the lights on but do contribute to keeping the heat on.

Guess I will have to hang on to them.

I think a lot of item (prices) have increased due to an increase in demand by being at home more and an increased supply of $$ due to stimulus.

My dad used to have a poster in the garage that said, "The man who dies with the most toys wins!" I think he might have won...

Exactly. When I buy a truck, I'm buying for function and purpose, not gas mileage. If I wanted great mpg, I would buy a moped.

As others have mentioned, the truck isn't going to get good mpg. If you find one that does, the load capacity of it will be compromised. Stick with a v8 and 4wd. Check auction sites.

Save your $$ and then get one.

Good advice here! I treat my truck like it’s a v8 but it definitely doesn’t pull like a v8 or handle a load like a v8! Next one will definitely be a v8. Another thing to consider is if your truck is also your daily driver. Mine is not, so gas mileage wouldn’t really factor into the equation as much. Always have wife/family in the nicest vehicle of the bunch. Truck for its intended purpose. Car for commuting. Jeep for pleasure/backup. Harley purely for pleasure!

Loon, the 3.5 ecoboost is the highest rated towing f150. They do it all, but not at the same time. Mpg or hauling/ towing. What year, what tranny? There's some that think that's no replacement for displacement. That's true until you add a turbo or 2 to the mix.;)

I have the 2011 Ecoboost. 4 door and 4wd. I added a tuner early because I was towing at max limit a 29 ft rv for work jobs. It has surprised a few V8 owners pulling loads up hills.
Gas mileage for me doesn’t seem a lot different than my 2017 work truck which is near identical but V8. I average 10-12 when I was towing that rv and 16-18 empty.
That being said, I’d love to have an old step side Ford with the 300 six cylinder inline. I loved that engine.
