Doesn't take long and my back and hip start hurting in vertical position, Vertical is great for splitting up the biguns down to size but , I am much more comfortable standing erect

Everyone has a way that works best for them. Probably been well refined to
match their setup & comfort .

    But
Vertical has more splitting power , gravity assist LOL

Quite a bit of my splitting is not at home, so I needed something a little more portable. I am contemplating a shed to cram it in for winter. That briggs hates to be started below 35° if I do it will have provisions for a milkhouse heater.

I know that feeling too......I took the recoil off mine more than once when <35° F and chucked up a 3/4" socket on my 1/2" hammer drill (hammer off), spin til start....doesn't run away and jank my arm outa whack since max drill rpm's are same as low speed idle rpm on splitter. Works like a charm in cold weather.

No choke on this one, just the primer. It is better with full synthetic oil and a new plug. The "easy start" Champion was anything but, I also gapped it @.025"instead of the .20" it starts much easier when cold.

What started life as an early to mid 1970s rental splitter most likely home made and resembling a Didier, it's now a little different. Got this 12-13 years ago for free with a seized engine. Had had a couple engines added wings and a table and liengthened and raised it. Last thing I've done is replace the valve, went from no detent to a double detent. I know its dangerous but I'm the only one using it. She's on her last leg, cylinder has been welded up a couple times and the beam and pusher is getting pretty worn. Next time it needs work I'm going to build a new one with the options I want from the start. IMG_0643.JPG IMG_0644.JPG

It's heavy. A lot of tongue weight now. I wouldn't say it is overly heavy duty but it was free and it works.
