    Maybe “on the cusp” was a bit generous :confused:
    I’ll still get a few solid heartwood splits out of these rounds, but next time I won’t bother unless the logs are larger. The sapwood punk went deeper than expected on this small batch. At least the wood should dry faster than fresh cut…

    White oak family trees make thee absolute worse mess. The sap wood rots quickly and disintegrates. Every load I bring home I have a bed full of it, then splitting too, and finally in the basement. If I had a living space wood stove it would be frustrating for sure. But it’s worth it. It burns long and hot. :dex:

    That’s my situation. Worse yet, I have carpet in my stove room :picard: That’ll be pulled out and laminate flooring put down, hopefully sooner than later.

    Looks like the stuff im working on yesterday and today. Luckily most of the bark is off and the impact on landing took a lot off. PITA, but it is what it is!

    Yea the sapwood is wide on those. Luckily the stuff i just cut it was an inch or so wide.
