Made in the USA with American steel...
I know everyone doesn't share this sentiment, but I'm at a point in my life where I just can't stomach any more Chinese garbage... I look around and am willing to pay more for a superior American made product.
Now, If only a private entity would only buy Poulan back, and go back to making pro-grade saws here domestically...
    One can wish....

Or buy back the Homelite/McCullough or Remington names. Damm we used to make some good saws.

Now that I think about it, the McCullough name may be a cheaper aquisition...
Would be a real marketing challenge...

If I'm not mistaken, McCulloch is also an active HOP brand along with Poulan. Remington is still an active company here in the US so that leaves Homelite for the resurrection.

Screw it. Let's build 'em in our garages and call them MasterHedge. :pete: :loco:

Next time you are in the area let us know a day or so in advance and we will get you a plant tour to see the unit being assembled and if you have time we can do a quick demo on real wood at one of our test sites. Just send us an email direct and we put something together.

Just wanted to comment Id do the same. Buy a kinetic(ours of course) and pocket the rest. We have seen similar performance to what you describe with your unit. Also can second the Fiskar comment. I kept coming across the Fiskar reference throughout all of the firewood forums on the internet so I went out and bought one. My X27 is always around when Im splitting even with the kinetic.

My first chainsaw was a little 14" McCulloch Eager Beaver(80's)and Im telling you that little thing cut a lot of wood it and was abused for a long time before it finally went down. Sold it non-working at a garage sale so it probable is re-built and still running today somewhere. Hey what a minute I'm supposed to be on here talking about our log splitter. I think we have been hijacked...LOL Great discussion. Keep the questions coming. Thanks for the interest in our new splitter.

There is a saw mill by me that does 300 cord a year all with a splitter like mine.If you are going to make decent money cutting and selling firewood you need fast saws and splitters. If you don't care how much you make per hr use slow saws with dull chains and splitters with 16 sec cycle times. The splitter I had before this was a husky 28 or 30 ton,it was so slow I used it about half the time as I got a lot more production with a mull.I don't even mess with the nastiest crouches of a tree,I cut on both sides of it and use it for camp wood or sell it to the guy with the outdoor wood burner who wants big pieces anyway.

That Huskee 28 ton is rediculously slow. Itty bitty pump on a big cylinder.

I do have one more question...
Is there a mechanical reason the kinetic splitters don't use a taller wedge? Like 8-10"??

There really is no mechanical limit other than as the height of the current wedge design increases the force required to push the log through it also increases which slowly begins to degrade the splitter performance all other things staying the same. Also similarly, as the height increases the force exerted on the wedge moves away from the beam putting additional stress on the wedge/weld joint to the beam. Finally, bigger wedge generally equals bigger $$$ in the final cost. We will continue to refine and work on alternative wedge designs for future release.
