Nope, hate those big b@stards, but this was a weird deal. We were cutting where we skidded yesterday & the lady came & got us for lunch. She had a whole crew there working. Asked if I could cut that Maple down as no one else was comfortable doing it & didn't have enough saw. No reason to have the 660 there, it was just still in the truck. Only had the 28" bar, but I made due. Tree is 40" where I cut it. Her crew cleaned it up I'm gonna cut some cookies next week for one of them to make tables. Any luck I'll get me a nice table. Glad I didn't have to process that thing. Twisty mess that'll split something awful.
That’s a big one! The rain stayed off for us till later in the afternoon which was nice. Wasn’t sure what it was gonna do. Just a few sprinkles here and there. Same for you? I have to agree on the big wood being a lot of work. Hydro only for them.
Me and the little guy added another row today. Neither of us were feeling like another two row day, so we stopped after one. Chinese takeout tonight
If you guys are in the Southern Connecticut area anytime soon ill have some splits for you to stack! Real nice work guys!
No plans to go there, but if we ever did, we’d swing by and help you catch up a little on your stacking for sure!
Absolutely killin' it with these stack pics Haftacut ! Awesome! Everyone lookin' has stack envy I almost guarantee.
Thanks We’ve been working hard the last couple days. Part of me wants to take tomorrow off and the other part wants to finish that last row on those pallets. We’ll see. Me and the boy may go turkey hunting in the morning.
I vote turkey hunting! Keep the young one interested in hunting too. Great looking job today for sure!
Had some time this afternoon to go out and split some more of the pile. I figured I would bring my splitting maul to up production a bit. Had the boy running the splitter while I used the maul. A bit of man versus machine! The splitter wasn’t running the whole time and I didn’t want him rushing so I don’t think is was a fair comparison, but the maul produced probably twice as much splits. First time I’ve had the two going side by side. Anyways, we were able to produce this pile in about 2hrs and 15 minutes. Save the stacking for another day It was fun being out there together, and like any young boy, they love running any kind of equipment! Still feels like so much left to split! Slowly but surely!
Had a couple hours between shifts to stack what my son and I split the other day today. The pile is what was left after we stacked that last row. Over a cord!
Thanks wood wolverine! Back out tomorrow for a couple more hours of splitting between shifts. Gonna try for a few more pallets on the way home in the morning.
Able to scrounge some more pallets over the weekend, so I got the rest of what I had split stacked. Gonna get some more split thursday. Not sure I’ll get out there tomorrow.
