    When you tested the moisture content, was it on a piece that was resplit? The surface would read drier than the inside.

    Yes, several fresh splits. It was dry enough that I could start a fire in my stove by just putting two splits down and a fire starter between them without any kindling.

    Loosen up one side and slide a 2x4 2x6 etc under to lift one side and reattach. Enough to allow runoff.
