Well I got about 3 hours of splitting on some White Oak I had down. It won't be ready to burn for a couple years, but a lot of good BTU's when it is. Still have about the same amount left to split. Started getting hot and humid, with a little rain coming in so I called it a day.
Nice job, +1 on quitting early...... its warm up here, can't imagine how warm it is down your way. How did that white oak split for you?
It's tough knowing the oak is split and it's right there, but you can't use it just yet. But when the time does come it's so nice to put that in the stove. good looking stack of oak so far WV
For sure the job gets a bit testy when the weather turns hot and humid. Then there are the bugs.... That's why I like to do this sort of thing during the winter and early spring.
Premium BTUs there. A little tougher to split than red oak but better BTUs Smells better too ! Seems you are liking splitting with the new splitter
White oak is great, a little stringy but that splitter runs right through it. Great firewood though, that will be awesome in a few years.
When I first started splitting Oak, I thought the white was something else because it was stringy. Great firewood in a couple years down there?
