I noticed the European hornbeam pic is a duplicate of Live Oak, so here’s the right pic.

 

That Katsura looks like it put up a fight.

 

Yeah it is stringy, but it wasn’t difficult like hickory. Bigger pieces might put up more of a fight. Hopefully I’ll get to find out.

Waiting for the op update. I’ve lost out on several additions because the cabbages couldn’t follow the simple directions to keep the WOOD. I’ve missed Crapemyrtle, Redbud, Alaskan Cedar and probably a few others.

 

Are those ones you would normally take or just for fun in this thread?

Never had heard of Monkeypuzzle before, a tree native to Chile by the looks of it?

 

I found a couple 10” Ash this morning dying from eab. I don’t have ash on my list yet

Of everything I’ve split so far Green Hawthorn has been my favorite. Easy to split, thin barked and has the feel and appearance of being a fast lighting good firewood. Similar to aged Elm in weight and texture.

 

I may have to go to the local compost center to see what I can "add" to inventory.
