How long is your longest chainsaw bar? I could cut splits in 1/2 pretty quick with my 42". Cut with one open side for 1/2's to fall away to assist progress.
I couldn’t live without one… lived in Minnesota too long and have had one for emergencies since 1996. Not sure how many times it’s saved us due to power outages for a sump pump or refrigerator/ freezer operations… just brain storming is all… I’ve got a couple 2000w inverters one could even hook up to a vehicle battery that would power a miter saw… but it’s not cost effective if you need to go buy something… like I said… just brainstorming…
I’ve got the harbor freight predator 3500w inverter generator. Quiet etc. for 220 needs, you’d have to get a 7500w version. Still a good deal.
I had a customer buy a cord of barkless BL. I found out later that he cut the 16" long splits in half as he liked load N/S instead of E/W with the long splits. He buys my BL shorts/cookies now and i generate a lot of them. My suggestion would be to get prepaid or get a deposit for a special order next year so you can make them ahead of time. You can make a jig to stack the splits in and cut in half with a chain saw.
Was just going to say our 5500/6500 runs our well just fine. Runs everything but the electric stove and AC.
Have lived in this house 12.5 years. Total time without power is about 60-70 hours and over half of that was at one time.
When the sump pump fails on a 14-hour rain giving you 18” of rain is not the time I care to be without a generator. One can justify getting or not getting a genset. In my mind, I won’t be without. the routine use I get from it to power the camper/ construction projects etc, just icing on the cake.
