If it was standing dead and I don't see how it couldn't be, I wouldn't think twice about burning it this winter, even if it was cut and split yesterday. I've burned a lot of ash and will be burning mostly ash for many years to come. I love it and can't think of anything bad to say about it, even on a frigid night.
Stack look great , "the norm" for you. You've been busy ! Same here with fresh cut birch Many cut in Sept/Oct & burn in Nov. I've given up on explaining how boiling water out of the wood before burning is a bad thing . I just say I have one of the new fangled catalytic stoves that needs dry wood
I don't think all of it was dead, as some looks not quite wet, and not quite dry. Fresh cut. I do plan to burn some this winter. Or, try.

Here's the checked Ash. If I can find my meter, I'll take a reading on a fresh split. These weren't checked when I stacked 'em.
All of the dead standing ash I have cut that was 10 inch or under, were under 20%, some bigger also though
Mr David from Nowhere, MI was sure he was acquiring well sesoned ash firewood that would be consumed by his recently purchased woodstove and his wood consumption would be lessened while keeping his home much warmer..........little did he know he had just entered the Twilight Zone......do, do,do,do,do,do,do,do
papadave, you did well sir-Ash is an exceptional wood and good that this helped you over the hump-you can't go wrong with ash but the slights you refer to are the absolute reason I am here...and so glad that I am-met some awesome folks and while the good Lord allows, I will know that what I burn I know its MC going in. Of my 9 cords CSS, 30% is ash, 20% beech, 20% maple, the rest locust and oak as I am now 2 yrs into the 3 yr plan---I have enough down to complete it before the rut and that was my goal
