That’s so scary. So glad Andrew came out as well as he did. It really is miraculous. After that sort of experience, some of the most difficult parts of the recovery may be mentally and emotionally. There will be a lot of information and feelings for him to process. The body will likely heal far sooner than anything else. It can be a long road. We are wishing you and your family all the best.

And I don’t say this lightly, and it isn’t really my way of looking at life, but seek the advice of a lawyer if you haven’t already. Having been through something similar, but not nearly so devastating it is definitely something to consider. I was in a truck that got T-boned by a Civic, but 2 years later I am still having neck and headache issues. It has totally changed my quality of life and my lifestyle, and what I am and unable to do.

The Lord is so gracious to us Oakman69. Andrew is very fortunate to be alive! God must have a purpose for him in this life.

And kudos to you for being so forgiving to the other driver. That is certainly not an easy thing to do.

Or at the very least don't "sign off" with the insurance company prematurely...they will come around and want to get things wrapped up ASAP, but sometimes things take a while to surface...my advice is to drag it out if you can.

Glad to hear he will be OK...looking at those pics I would have guessed differently.

It all depends on the fracture. If everything is in place and it's minor, they will simply prescribe rest. Other times they'll insert hardware.

 

I hope his recovery is quick and complete.

I could never forgive the other driver. Intentionally blew a red light at high speed following another car blowing a red light. That is not an accident, it is intentional aggravated assault with a motor vehicle that could have been a homicide.

 

Probably not intentional...just not paying good attention, as it seems people are more and more prone to do these days...just following the taillights in front of him

 

I disagree. If you are so distracted you did not see a red light or just did it because you were following another car that is an intentional act. Don't even get me going on the whole cell phone issue.

 

It's hard to prove intent. Ignorance isn't intent.

 

I hear ya...but to me "intentional" means a pre-meditated plan to blow the light and hurt someone...this does sound "negligent" though.
And yes, cell phone use (usually surfing online, or texting!) while driving is totally out of control! I occasionally have reason to work in the street, and it is shocking how many people drive by looking at "the little screen" If it were up to me I'd make the penalty for getting caught messing with your phone while driving stiff! Drop dah hammah on 'em! But even then, some people still don't learn well...

 

Andrew's insurance company will no doubt go after the other driver's insurance company to recoup the cost of Andrew's medical care. There should also be a conversation between insurance companies about compensation for lost income, and pain and suffering.
