It would be interesting to know. Also interesting to know what Woodstock thinks about trying it! Fill us in.

I did try it, it still emitted a metallic smell probably not quite as strong? maybe because the stove internal temp isnt as high? Woodstock has yet to respond to my emails Im pretty busy during the day and don't think I should have to call them to get a response, I would prefer to have a email trail so that I am not relying upon my memory.

Makes sense and I can agree with that, it also leaves a paper trail/history of what was done or troubleshooted. However its possible that they aren't getting your emails, few factors come to mind. Their email system having issues, flagged as spam, etc...I would make every effort (when you have the time) to give them a call and express your concern over the email non response and obviously the issue you are having.

I once called them and lamented that I hadn't received an email back from them and they responded "oh dear, let me look!" and then it turned out that they had in fact responded to me but for some reason the email was in my "spam" folder. Maybe give that a check, but I agree it is frustrating to not hear back from someone when you're anticipating a response.

No response from woodstock, I guess I will have to take time out of MY work day and call them .................................................... I have made progress, I took the absolute steel out to the garage and bought a nice old jotul3 to replace it, tired of troubleshooting this stove at my lungs expense. The new Jotul burns like it should! no Foul metallic smell!

They responded to my email and said they were busy and would review it and let me know, I have followed up with another email, and used facebook messenger to send them a message which was marked read, and choose not to respond? I would rather they just say they cant do anything for me than to not respond, who knows maybe they are having some internal issues or problems inside the company?

Man your situation sounds unique.I think out of all the owners of that stove yours has that particular problem.I can't even conceive how one would know what a metallic smell from a wood stove would smell like.Woodstock does have a return policy.Maybe that's the way to go since you have a new stove.

I am well past the return policy time frame, it sucks to spend this much money and not have local support, my mistake.

Man you should have made that phone call.Their return policy is stellar.Woodstock would have helped you.You can still call and hear what they have to say. They may tell you to ship it back but you'll have to pay the shipping. That I was working and couldn't call excuse won't fly no matter who you deal with.

Rich for a company that sells 95% of their products online, don't you think they should respond by email? They are aware of my problem they have chosen not to respond, if you are not going to RESPOND TO EMAIL, why even have it?

andrew a by no means am I trying to argue with you as I know you are clearly frustrated. But I'd be dammed if I went through all you went through with eating the cost of a stove, having to move it to the garage, PURCHASE a used older stove and have to install that all because I couldn't find the time to give them a call on the phone. Chit I might have gotten in the car out of rage and drove to woodstock myself (easier said than done I know). There would be no way on God's green earth I would have solely been waiting on a email regardless of how much product is sold via online. I would have gotten someone on the phone and ripped them a new one for the lack of response on the email end and raised holy hell to see what could have been done about my stove situation.

I have zero experience with Woodstock, BUT I can tell you I have heard nothing and I mean nothing but over the moon, outta this world great things about their staff and support. I cannot speak to your situation or what you are experiencing with them but I know they are held in high regard and have an outstanding reputation. I am sorry this all happened to you and again I mean no disrespect, best of luck :handshake:

I agree with Reel. Take 30 minutes, and call them. You've spent more time making and replying to this thread than you would have by calling them. This may not excuse the lack of communication through email, but sitting around stewing over it is silly. Just call them, and be done with it.

I like the call idea.I purchased a Woodstock Fireview from them.It didn't heat like I wanted so I called them and discussed the return policy.I like you was working at the time and the call took 3-5 minutes to get everything in order. The stove was returned and that was that.I also think it's best to ask what a person is thinking instead of trying to assume what their thinking. You know with all of the responses you've made to this post on this matter that phone call could of been made and done with.Man make the call.

Yeah, this is a situation where calling might be better. They are going to want to ask you some questions, and email is gonna end up being more dickin' around than just calling them would be. It's just harder to communicate and clarify all the info needed in email. BTW, any time I've emailed, I've gotten an answer, so it's not like they just blow off all email. I know you're frustrated now, but hang in there with them and I'm sure you'll be satisfied in the end.
