LMAO yessir you got that right as long as I pick it up no taxes if they deliver it (never happen) then they have to tax you. It sucks living in Taxachusetts.
$3652 Out the door no trim kit ect. Very tempting but wife just will not understand so thats next maybe maybe not.

Well, me too - but got the roof put on before I got the second stove. And the first stove (P61a - new) + 2 tons of pellets literally cost me less than heating this place for 3 months when propane was $5-6/gallon so it saved me money to put into the roof.

Practicality wins out Today but the more I dwell upon it this may not hold . Wife seemed to be able to talk some sense into me but well I have not always been a sensible person..... In response to the earlier post that running a stove wide open regardless of what quality it is to some degree can be looked at two ways . If I get the p68 I will not have to run it wide open as it pushes 21k more BTU ! Good point though and definitely true.
Lets see how long this will take to either make the final decision not to grab the Harman and suck it up and work with what I have verse grab the Harman and suffice the desire to have this stove, lessen the work while not much I have to do at the end of a mental day of work . Plus just owning one very nice pellet roaster .
Have two stoves in the room because the dang Alpiner weighs so much and if i Get the Harman Ill have 3 stoves in the room until I get rid of the Pelpro.
Need to get my brother to help me get the beast out of here maybe sell it, hey maybe he will want to install a pellet stove and he can take the Pelpro .
Thanks everyone for your input !

Think about Louseyweather's advice of getting the P61 instead. Only 7000 btu's less for less money. Talk to the dealer of choice about what's best for you. I've never come close to running mine anywhere near max output. I'm not sure I would want to inside of a building.

Huh? You think you got it bad? You're not even in the top 5 in the US.

"Combined sales and income tax leaders
The Tax Foundation interprets individual tax burden by what taxpayers actually spend in local and state taxes, rather than report these expenses from the state revenue perspective used by the Census Bureau. Its State and Local Tax Burden Rankings study reported that Americans paid an average rate of 9.9 percent in state and local taxes in 2010. According to the foundation, the five highest state-local tax states were:

    • New York 12.8 % :faint:
    • New Jersey 12.4%
    • Connecticut 12.3%
    • California 11.2%
    • Wisconsin 11.1%
The same states have ranked as the top three consistently since 2005"

And Sales Tax only? ..........you're only #33 in the nation for just sales tax. NY.....#9 :(

yea...I don't think I've ever run into an instance wherein the P68 does the job that a P61A wont.

Used and reconditioned stoves can be a great deal as well! Just be careful in knowing what the price on a brand new unit is versus a used unit. I might suggest staying away from units that are no longer produced either (P38). Ultimately, it will be your relationship with the dealer....a recon stove is great if they take care of issues, and I'd say 4 years is pretty darn good if their annual service charge isn't through the roof. Don't settle.

Agreed. My friend picked up a two-year old P68 for $2100. The owner charges $200 for the annual cleaning and he also checks all the components of the stove as well.

fair price on the P68, being 2 years old.....although IMHO, $200 is somewhat high for an annual cleaning. Any cleaning should "check components" as a matter of course.

Well food for thought and appreciated, as far as paying someone to do the cleaning not going to happen I take care of my own chit with OCD holding the reigns.
So that will not be a cost to incur but just something about buying something new and not having anyone who has touched it prior to acquiring it other then the fine people who construct and fabricate that item is appealing to me . Someone on this board was kind enough to give me a heads up on a used P68 with five years of use and I considered it with deep thought but guess i just need something that is mine from the get go of creation .
    thanks again

I'm with you Luney, I'm not a gambler so I like new. I just watch for deals on new items. Picked my Francesca up for 1700 MSRP was 2400.

I ended up with a new Eco65 thanks to the advice here. I am still pleased with it 2 years later. We do not have a furnace, so we were all wood stove, and now mostly pellet stove, WOW pellets are such a time saver for our family compared to the two woodstoves we had. Maintenence? No worries here, I am far from OCD but my stove is extremely tolerant of less than the 1 ton cleanings and works just as well with quick and dirty cleanings when it's too cold to do the OCD one. I almost bought a P68 too, and the impression I got was they were not very picky either compared to other brands. I wish you luck.
