I don't remember if I had posted anything about this before or not but if so, here it is again.

Getting up in years my wife and I have no desire to leave final things to our sons. That is, some day we will die and they will either have to feed us to the hogs, burn us or bury us. But we really do not feel right in leaving them with decisions nor do we wish to leave them with financial burdens putting us away.

Therefore, a few years ago we went to one of the local funeral parlors to a man whom we've both known for many years. I also have had dealings with his father many years ago and we always got along well. Naturally, at this time we go to this place to set up final arrangements. All apparently went well and we paid for everything including the stone. We also had purchased our cemetery plots and the stone has been set and just waiting for us.

But in the meantime, things happened that we knew nothing of and it shocked us. The man took our money but somehow it never got deposited in the escrow fund at the state level. Whoops. Last year an audit caught this and let us say, the man suddenly was in deep do do. Needless to say, many were hurt by this including us. Not only in the broken trust but also there were many thousands of dollars that suddenly were not there. What to do?

Long story short, things have finally been happening for the good. The funeral home has been sold and the dollars have been placed into the fund so we have lost nothing but a few grey hairs. I spoke with the prosecuting attorney today (was too sick to go to the trial) and the man definitely has pleaded guilty and the sentencing will be in about another month. He no doubt will get off easy because everyone has recovered the dollars that were lost. The funeral home has re-opened under the new owners and they are doing business.

But the gist of the whole thing is that we praise the Lord for this. We stood to lose almost $16,000. A month ago we didn't have it. Today we do. Thank you Lord!

So sometimes when we get down and out and it seems people are walking over you but you can't seem to stop it, persistence does many times pay off. For sure we had little to do with the recovery as this was a legal matter so other than filling out forms and making telephone calls, etc., we had to leave this to a higher power. May the Lord continue to bless us and every reader of this post to make the year 2015 one of the very best ever.

Rant over and purse now heavier.

Perhaps some may take this as poor taste but I just thought some might like it. This is our stone and our final resting place. Notice the birth dates. This cemetery is very rural and set back away from the road so is a very quiet place and we have many relatives laid to rest here also.

Can relate fully on both levels. We have plots already also and with a 1944- also. We also have our son's already there as he left us in 03. It was a terrible and unnecessary tragedy and we too were in deep, deep do do thanks to injustice on a massive scale. Prayed about it and finally forgave and just said "Thy Will Be Done Father" and let go. Years later it all worked out in a just way and we are free of it totally. Our God is an amazing God for sure.
