Thanks Dexter, watching that video got me to wondering. The saw was throwing a pretty good stream of chips, in pretty good sized dry wood.

See, Fuzz, chainsaw weenies do know something other than saws! I personally don't know anyone that doesn't like red clover honey on fresh baked biscuits! Or better yet my favorite, rugalky made with honey and crushed walnuts.

Well Randy can still port one if you need more power out of yours. I sent him two saws and a new take-off OEM C/P which most likely come back ported. So if you want to do your own work swapping jugs, I could see my way to making that top end available.

Dayum!!! That's all I can say. The Dolmar 6400 was a great saw, but this thing runs a little better, and has a very distinctive sound. I will be opening the muffler up when I get home. I wish I brought my Dremel to the Cabin.. :(

Just a small update from Pennsylvania

It takes a few minutes to load pics here. It's rarely even 3G. Most times it's "1X" :(

Dex, I am not sure if opening the muffler up will make much of a difference, It does not in the Dolmar 7900, you might want to let the saw break-in before having at the muffler. Saw might be like a HVA 543XP and take 10 tanks to break in and come alive! Not to mention you may lose the distinctive sound.

I agree with JChin, modding the muffler before the engine breaks in will present misleading results. You won't know what the full potential of the 'as designed' saw is before you start, so won't know if your MM made things better or worse. Said it before and will say it again, 'not every saw on the planet benefits from a MM' despite what you have read/been told, some do some get worse.

That 271T i have is a completely different saw after the muffler mod.... In conjunction with pulling carb limiters !! But..... I tried one on my old cs440..... Made the outlet bigger... Ran like crap... Abd wouldnt tune. Snagged a new muffler... Runs perfect. ! Lesson learned :)

Yeah. My FIL built it back in 1990. Bill passed away 12 years ago and we try to enjoy it as much as possible. But being about 4 hours away, it makes it hard. We always come up for the 3rd week of July though.

Have a total of 2 tanks through the 665 now. Did some noodling of some pretty big hemlock rounds. My 441 makes shorter work of them, but the 665 is no slouch. Both running new RS chains.
