Were going on vacation in a few weeks and I have plenty of wood so figured I would sell some for extra spending money. Delivered a load and within a few hours I got a text thanking me for how great the wood was burning and that they wanted another load in a few days. The people have bought wood from others before that was soaking wet. Drives me nuts that wood sellers do that. But glad they have good wood and will be staying warm.
Cool swags. Good work. A little pay back for that hard work. I could probably do that now. Quite a few around here have run out of wood.
I sold 4 cords when work was slow. It was split between 5 people. It was all gone within 4 days on cl, and sold for $255 per cord. Every single person wanted more of this truly seasoned wood. It's not really worth selling for me, but the weather made for a slow winter at work. My ad title read 'seasoned (for real) firewood'. that worked and helped command the higher price. Pay what it's worth our go get some from the next guy right off the stump.
Ya I put in my add exactly when it was CSS summer 2012, and asked $100 for a truckload delivered. I have a short bed f250 and they were very happy to get it.
Ive found that most people wont pay the higher price for actual seasoned wood. Mid have to be in the $300 area or higher to cover the adds costs with seasoning wood. The folks that know they need dry wood are usually several years ahead so green wood is fine. The others mostly don't care/will go with the "seasoned" wood from someone else, or have no idea about seasoned wood... Or have a boiler that they have in mind can burn everything from old tires to 300lb chunks of soaking wood. I've had a few folks that told me "none of that dry chit, it burns too fast" and then go on with stories about getting "screwed" with too dry wood from someone. I'm not complaining... It's just observations from selling lots of wood.
It has always amazed me that people will say it burns too fast but never consider turning down the draft....
