Line up the 4.7 v8 in our 04 4Runner too while we're at it. That exhaust tick on ours has been there for a while. Pretty common, but it doesn't throw any codes, never failed emissions and this year was the last year it needs emissions testing.
Wish I knew how people are buying these new trucks- any make- as prices/ payments are obscene. Due to those prices the used market is inflated as well. Being in the winter salt belt makes it even worse as everything has dirty orange as a secondary color scheme. Def systems only being worth about 100k miles just adds to the flustration , replacement of that is as bad as replacing a battery on those EV units.
Credit card debt and just loads of other debts. That's how. When DEF and all the other emissions controls arrived for diesels, that was basically the end of them for on road applications.
I agree...they have priced the diesel pickups out of being justifiable for any reasonble person, unless towing all day everyday maybe, thats why many/most fleets have switched back to gas.
Blast from the past here! I just sold the truck this past summer and still going strong and no leaks. Probably 45,000 miles on it after I had done the job.
