Ashwatcher , so glad to see you back as well. Can't say I can "like" your summer's experiences at all. Glad to know you're on the mend, but what a series of events. I don't abide thieves in any form, & it really irks me when they cause physical harm either directly or indirectly. May the law get them here & the Almighty when that time comes. May you finish healing quickly & completely! If ya need a hand with a little firewood work I know a few people......
I know Chaz , the unmitigated gall of some is amazing-the one I’ve had the most probs with is another walking zombie dopehead who saw his share of the logs as drug money-the other has some resources but is also scum-the tire was a triple ply BFG Mud Terrain, not a re-tread-they were on it when I bought it, had plenty of tread-the Coopers are much better and gnarlier, will post pics later...Fencing wouldn’t help me, they’ve cut down pipe gates, etc-and I cant afford to fence 400 acres-I live 7 miles from there so without hiring a caretaker, I cant police all the time-the upside to the drug epidemic is less and less are hunting/poaching as they have no teeth to eat and tweek all night and sleep all day...they just think about their next fix...I’m just disappointed in LE as I’ve been a friend and supported through 2o yrs with Military Affairs and Public Safety, the same umbrella they are under
Nah buddy, just opportunists-I dont get over there much during the summer do to other things like golf, etc...they know I’m there throughout the fall and winter but they’re so drug driven and desperate, they will do about anything-I live in a somewhat rural area, but only 20 minutes from the capitol city-have a private driveway marked, exposed to main road on one side and neighbors within view on the other-I dont even leave my garage door up anymore when I’m home during the day unless I’m outside-They see a chainsaw or anything the value of a pill or meth, they’ll dash and grab-pitiful times....Hope you are well, how’s the back?
Were those tires load range E? Would it be worth investing in a couple of those trail cams that send the pics right to your cell phone for your farm?
LE just seems to be content with letting them get pulled over for a traffic violation, etc and then effectuate an arrest-My county DNR police officer just got back from several months of military duty so I may be able to convince him to proceed-the investigating officer was covering 3 counties in his absence, good kid, pitched at Auburn, big left hander derailed by Tommy John surgery-I know the father of my county officer as he was a criminal justice instructor of mine in college and I spent time with both of them last year-his dad remembered me from the 80’s as a student at a job fair recently at the college and both are deer hunters-I’m willing to let the professor hunt the farm-LOL-he’s a transplanted New Yorker who only gets to hunt public property-They will each pay 3x the value of the tree, @2100., and 2 fines each of $500 for timbering without a license and selling timber without a license-so @ $3100 each with no compensation to me to begin with-the one is a zombie and I likely will only be able to place a lien on the assets of the other, paralyzing him from doing anything financial til he pays...not a good prognosis
I have trail cams out now but did not then-too rural and hilly here-I have full service at home 7 miles away but have to hit the ridge on the farm for service-so that tech doesn’t enable me to access now-love to have the remote capability but do not-You’d think all those neon yellow posted signs would make a difference but then you have to be able to read-they will deny seeing them when confronted-lol-Yes they were-3 plys-never a fan of BFG’s, def not now...quality control def an issue-the Coopers are sweet-will post pics of refurbished Beast later-Cooper Discoverer SST Pro’s...run Coopers on my Lexus too-top shelf American made tires
That’s very kind of you and thank you for the welcome back-it was taxing me to be away but I’m good-this is really a special place and I felt like I was being selfish cause this place has always been one of support and common bonds-I just had to process-The county prosecutor said they could not be charged with criminal trespass resulting in injury because we’d have to prove pre-meditation, even though the injury would not have happened without their criminal act-I get that, LE has been fine just slow to act-my chances of recovering squat is slim to none but karma is delivered everyday and I’m on record-the fuse is short and the trigger quick should I encounter either in a threatening situation...Man I’ve missed this place and thank you again amateur cutter - Hope you and all are well
Ahh, OK. I wasn't sure when you said 3 ply...most still refer to E's as 10 ply. But I guess you have done your research and know that the newer E's don't actually use "10 plys" anymore...
You know buddy, you may be right-it’s all a blur-they were older tires but had good tread left, maybe they were 10 ply-I’m trying to forget like a bad dream...just good to be back in the company of friends...I’ll post pics of the injury for the non-squeamish if I can think of a good disclaimer—-Life is for the living, we have all dodged bullets and curveballs...Thankful for this place...
Boy Ashwatcher you sure have had the run of bad luck. I truly hope the scum get the karma they deserve and I wish you the best. Glad to have you back with us.
Wow, sorry to hear about your streak of bad luck. Make sure to save the pool liner as it can keep the evidence off your truck as you drive the thieves to the hole you dug.........
WOW Ashwatcher With he summer you had you could almost say if it wasn't for bad luck you wouldn't have any luck at all. Glad you are healing up and able to talk about your experience. Sharing is good therapy and we are all here to support you.
Ashwatcher, my old friend, I would not wish the sort of luck you've had this year on anyone. You deserve better for sure. Hopefully that infection is now completely in check and the rib has healed. In all this you have not mentioned how the shoulder has fared through it all. Hopefully that part has healed well. I also hope soon you can get back to the wood cutting business. I am also hoping for your sake that while you have been recuperating you perhaps have put more thought into and perhaps even practiced the correct way of splitting wood?! Regardless, it is good to have you back again and we hope and pray this whole mess gets cleared up and that you completely heal.
Ashwatcher welcome back, I had thought you were just off playing golf.. Sorry about the situation, my experience here the LEOs arrest them and the courts release them..
My dear friend Sir Savage-I am good again minus med expenses I didnt ask for, course we never do-Shoulder 90%, leg healed, infection gone-Heaven doesn’t want me and hells afraid of me....So nice to hear your kind words and even in my down time I had occasion to think, more than once actually-.........and I lamented—- “I hope that old coot finally figured out he’s doing it all wrong and the splitter is a horizontal wonder to behold”...so I see that didnt happen...Hope you and the Mrs. are well and warm!
I do hope that shoulder keeps getting better. I need the surgery in both shoulders but have had this problem for many years. At my age it is hard to justify the surgery but it perhaps would make life a bit easier after the healing was done.
After all you’ve endured my friend, you’d handle it well. I wont lie, when I had the L done in 08, I swore I’d never endure that pain again, it was brutal and I was in the worst pain of my life for weeks. They did have to open it up as opposed to arthroscopic due to bleeding but it was only a partial tear. I said as long as I can split wood (still manual til 2015, swing a golf club and get by, I wasn’t going through it again. Fast forward to 2017, and it finally snapped, could not raise it past the waist. I had a complete tear of the supraspinatus, the big one (we have 4 rotator cuff tendons) and a partial tear of the labrum from throwing pitches and throwing across the diamond for a long time. They scoped and repaired and the biggest breakthrough is the use of a nerve block into the neck that reduces the trauma. Now my right chest stayed partially numb for a couple months but the reduction in post surgery pain was huge. The block lasts 18-22 hours and when it wears off you’ll know but the overall pain for me was significantly reduced. They will also likely do a clavicular reduction, shaving bone off the bulb of the shoulder to create more room in there and scrape some arthritis out if you have impingement syndrome noted by a great lack of mobility (thats the pain that buckles your knees usually when lifting the arm past parallel and reaching back). If you feel ok otherwise, have your doc order an MRI on your worst, likely dominate hand side. Asssess the damage, go to a good orthopedist and see what they say, if it improves your quality of life, why not? And yet another prime example why the 3 yr plan is so important there Plan Daddy. I was off 2 months and 2 wks before I was released to full activity but PT begins within a week. Good luck my friend and keep us posted.
Here’s the rip the thieves caused-I will skip some space so if you’re squeamish, close your eyes or hit the back button-couldn’t be sutured-was to the bone on the lower, to the patella on top-note the swelling from the blood poisoning-I’d never even heard of red streaks meaning go immediately to ER, do not pass go-3 mos later and scalpel scraping dead tissue weekly later, I’m back with a vengeance! I was released from wound center on Aug 16, happened Memorial Day weekend-was finally able to go on vacation with the girl and get in water end of August...
