Yep, it was replaced last year. Works great, but still wants to overheat at low speed.

    I remember you replace it.
When I backflushed mine through the heater core used Air Blast, fix it right up

Yeah, we've got a bin of those laying around at work Many will work from brand to brand. It is hard to tell until you have it on hand and try to fit it.

What brand is locally available? I can check at work tomorrow for compatibility.

Had the same problem with my Grand Cherokee. Did thermostat- still heating up. Checked relays- all good. Eventually found fan was not spinning to speed. Did not want to pull the radiator so had to buy a shorty universal with the socket built in due to no clearance in front of the steering block, even with loosening all of the radiator bolts. 2 12" 3/8 extensions, ratchet and busted knuckles got the bolt out. If it is the fan you may have a single or 2 stage fan, found that out by just buying the motor and the connections were different.

I can't tell you how many $1000's of I have saved just in auto repairs over the years utilizing the internet for finding fixes. It literally has paid for itself.

Jeep Cherokees are among many cars known for getting badly clogged radiators from residual casting sand in the motor blocks......I've seen a rad off of a Cherokee taken apart......and it was unreal.....

Changed the relay, thermostat, fan.....which is a dual speed.....
That radiator shroud bolt down low near the steering box was purposely left off after fan replacement. Someone deserves a class A dumbazz award for putting it there.

Oh, so NOW you tell me.............
As far as I know, it's the original 2003. I bought it in May of '09. We're trying to keep it running while searching for a new(er) vehicle.
I'm not messing with it. The shop can replace it.

Thanks. Don't know what's local, so I may need to go the internet route.
The valve is an Energy, and the splitter is an MTD "Gold Series".

I'll check in a few at my production meeting. You know, with guys that work on these things every day. ;)

Yes, those are universal. Heck when I had my first job out of HS, we literally the hundreds of those away. Many are cheap cast aluminum and fail.

I got very busy at work today. Tomorrow I'll look and see if we have any on hand that we would be tossing. If we do, I'll let you know. I'm sure we toss them here too.

Very cool. I'll hold off for a minute then.
Plenty of other things to do in the meantime.

    Yep, that be the piece.
Safe to just pull apart and replace needed parts? Is there any pressure there?

No no pressure, provided it's not running. ;).

After dropping off the Jeep, I went out and pulled the bracket and handle....
Links and pins all are in good shape, but I'll replace the cotter pin.

Shop (different one) called a while ago to tell me it needs a new thermostat, and a flush.
New therm. put in last year and 1/2 azzed flush on Fri., so we discussed other options. He's going to check the radiator with a scope to see how bad it is inside, then we'll go from there.
The scanner was telling him the temp rose to 214, then when the fan came on, it dropped to 206. EXACTLY what happened at the other shop. Yet the Jeep temp goes to 230 if at 30-35 mph.
    He should be calling soon-ish.
Did you check the connector between the body and door? Evidently, the wires inside there chafe and wear through, causing erratic behavior. Mine's been doing it for a while, and if I only open the door a few inches it'll still work. Beyond that.......no worky.
