I sure wish they would learn that around here! But, on the bright side, it keeps my freezer full of good venison!
We had a couple days of rain with the threat of flash flooding. Now it's higher than normal winds at 30 to 50mph. Before the rains started it was calling for 5 to 8 inches of snow which never came. In anticipation of the snow, I had hired the gravel/dirt road in front of my place fixed including drainage for the other side of the road. Included was the filling of all the potholes (hundreds of them) and cutting a better edge for the ditch on my side of the road. That was too large of a job for me to do by hand. Then the rains came and turned the whole thing into a mud hole. Walk in the road and sink up to your ankles in mud. But with the winds it's starting to dry which now means 8 to 10 inch deep ruts. When it drys enough I'll get out there and try to fix it by hand. It is a state owned road, (that they rarely take care of) and I rarely if ever drive on it, but I figured I would fix it for those that do. Oh well, no good deed goes unpunished. Last year towards the end of September we received 5 inches of rain one day, then a day of sun, and then several more days of rain. 18 inches worth for a total of 23 inches in less than a week. I still have to do the cleanup from the mud slide and put in a retaining wall in case it happens again.
Yes indeed. Heavy wet stuff. Which means it settled a lot today. What was not settling was blowing. Some roads are drifted a lot. Yesterday afternoon. Early this morning. 8-9" here. 11-12" in some other areas.
