Just rewired the insane rats nest under the truck so it has a proper 7 way anchored under the bumper now too. Took 2 hours to map it out re run and hook it all up again but it looks great now!

Hope you had a better schematic than the original one you were trying to use the wire the trailer. . That one made your life difficult! Nothing like knowing everything is new and done right.

I have GM tech books for the truck and believe me I needed them. There was a towing kit installed from the factory which is the easy part... Then some one along the way spliced into the aux and brake lines and ran the wires into the bed but left them unhooked. The 4 way had 12 splices in the wires that needed to be removed and non of them where the factory wires... Basically I had to redo the brake wire, aux, lights, brakes, ground and remove a ton of splices.

It’s all wired from the engine compartment back to the bumper now. Properly wired with correct color code and no splices.

I also had to remount the trailer harness and connection box. I forget what that junction is called but it was flopping around under the bed.

It’s far cleaner and much easier to fix later if need be. A short term headache I guess....

I’ve also discovered that zip ties are way nicer to hold the 7 way female receptical to the plate that I mounted to the truck. If it needs work later just cut the zip ties off no messing around with rusty stubborn screws.

Just remember that they're only plastic and the trucks vibrations will eventually cut them.

    Leaving your "female end" dangling.

I can hardly believe that I posted that myself. :emb:

Don’t underestimate the mighty zip tie! Half my world is held together by them... :rofl:

The receptical won’t fall out of the hanger if the zip ties break there isn’t enough wire there to let it. All the extra wire is also zipped up and out of the way nice and secure. :hair:

    So many zip ties:wacky:

I also carry a bag of light duty and a bag of 500lb rated in each vehicle for emergency’s. :picard:

Sounds like a heck of a job. Nice work. I recently acquired a 2004 Suburban 2500, and I’m afraid to look into the wiring I’ve got going on with my headlights. Somebody did something wacky to them. They work, but not the way they are supposed to. I have what looks to be two cut wires at each headlight bulb. I’m wondering if somebody had a plow on this at some point. I’m afraid I might just be foolish enough to mess with it! Glad yours worked out well.

    Nice,

I hadn't heard of Etrack before, did a quick Google on it. Looks like you can attach quite a few things to that track.
    That will be extremely convenient.
