That’s awesome! I like the death spring idea a lot!! This is food for thought I’ve got a couple old garage springs some where!!

Looks like I’ll be picking up a couple 130lb garage door springs. I’ve come up with a crazy idea for the gate assist. That’s all the gate assist systems are using anyways. 2 springs for $30 is pretty good!

Install the spring inside a pipe, maybe even sch 80 pvc, and run a cable to the gate, if something lets go the spring will be contained.........

What a good idea! nothing worse than getting hit by a unloading spring.

    I prefer this style spring.

The spring is contained on a shaft and the tailgate is between you and the Spring when it is loaded.

That EMT looks great on there! I mocked up both sides took it back off and painted the junction box mounting plate not much else to do till tomorrow now. I might mount angle on the back of the beams for the bolts but I don’t think I have enough left. We will see. If the emt is all then I will be cleaning the frame this week and painting it this weekend.:dex:

Does anybody have tips for painting RAISED expanded steel? I test sprayed a small spot and that was a pain... Is there a roller that works good?
