You old guys need to get with the times man. Seriously though, I have much more free time than you, so there's that.
I guess I have not done any updates on the thread in a while. Im still doing touchup work to the bathroom we are getting ready for the trim work now there isnt much after that. Yesterday we found a used / like new stacked washer and dryer to put in the bathroom. The old washer has been on the fritz for a while now and its gotten very loud as of late. Still working fine but had the ticking time bomb feel to it. The couple who sold us these units had them in very nice shape still with all the plastic over the buttons and knobs. I managed to ding the door plastic a few times getting them loaded and unloaded which MRS Pallet Pete was less than happy about.... The seller bought them new and barely used them. They are downsizing homes and so they where on Facebook Marketplace for $750 picked up. I couldn't resist and made the 3 hr round trip drive to get them. The MSRP is $999 each so Id say $750 total was worth it! here's the before not that you need to see our laundry baskets And after: This was what the corner was designed for but my measurements for the light ended up being a couple inches off however it didn't turn out bad and it still looks good according to the wife so that's what matters. Scuffed doors and all. ( Yes I'm guilty of doing that moving them.
Certainly a space saving upgrade. And @ $750, one heck of a score. I think someone hands out a certain "award" for scores like that. Looks great Pete.
We also got the closet door in and adjusted. it turned out OK at best I have learned never to buy another Jeldwin bifold door they are complete junk and a total pain to work with. I ended up filling the ends with construction adhesive because they where already busted out so bad the door would have been bonfire food otherwise. It worked great but I think eventually they will need to be replaced with a better quality door.
The rest of what Ive been doing has been under the floor with plumbing and some electrical work. I don't have any pictures of that dungeon of doom yet.
Looking good Pete! Always do lighter loads in those front loaders, and make sure to leave the door open a few inches after to let it dry so it wont start smelling moldy
Looking great Pete. I have a mudroom to upgrade cosmetically. I was investigating a spot on the ceiling that looked liked a roof leak. It was from mice. I ripped the ceiling down and there was a big nest up there. Time for sealing gaps.
The bathroom is looking really nice. I like the wall colors. I actually have a can of paint about that color that I was going to use for my bathroom. But when it came right down to it, I just couldn't make myself do it, so it is basic white. Now you are making me rethink my choices. That washer / dryer set acquisition was a nice score. Bonus that stacking gives you more room.
I got my masonite bifold doors from Lowes. Yes, they are cheap, but have held up nicely. They look good and do the job intended, that is when I remember to close them. I have no idea what brand they are. I shop at Lowes because they treat veteran's respectfully. Never any arguments about returns, and they have supported their warranties.
I really like the front end loaders. They use less water. The clothes are wrung out better when they go into the dryer so they dry faster. But the washer do get an odor. I control that but 1. As Chaz said, leave the washer door open. 2. add a cup of vinegar to a hot wash every week or two. 3. Add a cup of baking soda to a hot wash every week or two. Don't add them together. Separate is best unless you want a foaming mess.
That looks fantastic Pete! Wow, with scale from the washer dryer that room is way bigger than I realized. Love it!!
