Today I went to our to our local shop to purchase the belts, oil and plug for my Toro Power Max 926 OXE. On the counter was one of those plastic things with a leaflet selling a snowplow attachment for snowblowers. It's a universal snowplow. Used when the snowblower is not picking it up. Slush comes to mind.

I talked to the guy at the counter. He's been there a while, but I don't know him. The other guy that I've known for years was helping someone else. I was told that this snowplow attachment works well, and runs around $240 or $300. He was not certain. As I am not looking to spend that kind of money I did pursue it any further.

Does anyone here know of such an attachment? Or does anyone here have one? I'd really like to know if they work. The concept seems to have merit, but then I've bought other things that seem to have merit that were no good.

Here's a link to one, and it has a video.

Do waste your money. The snow blower does not have enough bulk to push to blade loaded with heavy slush. It will just sit there spinning the tires and wearing out the drive disc.

This is why I wanted to ask this forum. I know someone would bring an excellent point to the table.

I've had an ATV on my want list with a snowplow for years, and it's not going anywhere soon. Heck I've got a truck on that list as well. Not seeing either of them anytime soon, but I am making headway on my bills. Eventually I'll be able to afford one or maybe even both of them.

If my snow blower can't pick up the snow because it is too compact-y, it pushes it anyway. Okay, so the plow would keep it from packing into the auger shaft, but I don't think it would make anything easier. It certainly wouldn't scrape any of the compacted snow dumpage from my roof. So unless you are talking about "plowing" 1-2" of snow, where I would normally use a shovel, I'm not thinking it would be the most useful attachment ever made.

Seams like a lot of money for a shovel blade clamped to the front of your blower. When i saw your title I thought, what a great idea to add wings to angle snow into the blower chute to be able to take a wider swath in light snow conditions.

You mentioned slushy conditions. Like rottiman mentioned, your blower likely wouldn't be able to push any amount of that heavy stuff. I just push it with the blower like a loader until i get it near or off the edge and then engage the auger the throw/dump it a little further. When it's real heavy i might only be able to take a half width swath. But it's easier then shoveling.

For light snow or for a clean finish, i just use a scrapper to shovel wind rows and then blow them away.
