My pleasure Jason. I like pictures, and assume everyone else like rule #32 (pictures). Alaska is not everyones normal, so I share the craziness.
I just got the phone call with the update from today. I got to work. Here is a repaste from another thread. I need to brag about one of my kids. Apparently todays hockey tournament was also secret tryouts. Tommy a defensemen had 3 games. Two were against the #1 seed for the state, and the third was against the age group 11-13 year olds Tier 3 team. T scored in all three games. They won their games. He is now also playing for the Delta Junction School tournament team. There are a hand full of the teams in the state, they are umbrella below USA Hockey intended for grooming players for Team USA. They also travel internationally to play, representing both Team USA and Alaska in their age bracket. The coaching staff approached his mom after the first game, and had a meeting with the details and offered a slot on the team. Most of the slots were not filled until after the completion of all 3 games. Tommy was the first player selected! Coaches told mom that he is the only natural ability defensemen for his age, they have seen in excess of 5 years. They have been keeping tabs on him, the last 2 years. They shared his scouting folder, with stats. Today has been a really special, super proud!
It's not just the government that does stuff like that... I have seen that at many companies... Stuff that they could do cheaply and easily they contract to a vendor in the stupid thinking that they are going to save time and labor. Most idiotic are the times they won't pay there own people, but will pay more to have it done by a contractor
Those pictures are depressing. It's in the 50's here and 60 is forecast for tomorrow. Never had such long stretches of BS weather in December like this when I was a kid. Uggh. Where's my winter?
Rope, that's great! What a treat for you and your family, especially the young man. Congratulations to all of you!
Tommy my oldest that helped me with this load of wood. He was so happy, with both his hockey and today we used some of the wood we got.
It sounds like he'll have an opportunity to travel. His world is about to get bigger! I hope the travel costs are somewhat subsidized. Natural ability, but a lot of hard practice too, I bet.
Congrats on Tommy's achievement! oh yeah and the firewood too. Looks like a lot of fun to me. I was wearing a tshirt and shorts this past week.
