I put slightly larger tires on one and the tires would rub the bottom of the deck when hitting a bump while heavily loaded... I had to install urethane bump stops because it would actually make the tires smoke n squeal a little...I'm sure I was overweight though too...hauling 5 yards of mulch (short drive on side roads)
That’s a good point. Ironically, I reached out the manufacturer awhile back. They stated they unfortunately don’t have anything on file for this particular trailer. Going to a 10” would raise the overall height 1”. I measured and I’ll have enough clearance to the deck; even if the suspension bottoms out. So “in theory”….this should work just fine. But again…in theory. ; )
Found a deal I could not pass on. 3 tires/wheels; two lightly used one brand new: $100 on FB Marketplace. These are the same size that are on the trailer now, so “stock” height as far as I know. As you can see, the current tires/whee setup could use replacing. I may pick up some new lug nuts as well. Current crusty ones may clash with those newer wheels. ; ) New tires and wheels:
Ended up selling the trailer. Aside from one trip around the neighborhood this summer, it hadn’t left the yard in a year. It was a fun project fixing it up. Before selling, I pulled the hubs, wire wheeled, primed, enamel painted them, packed the bearings and installed new dust caps. I put the trailer on Marketplace over a weekend. Monday morning, I got a message at work from a guy asking about it. Agreed on a price and he picked it up a few days later. He rides some older Ski-Doos with his kids and this is just what needed. Glad it went to a good home! Currently on the hunt for a decent 5x8 utility trailer.
I was thinking about that! However, storage space is an issue. Trying to keep it on the smaller size.
