I had forgotten about the website that lists the E-Free gas Pure-gas.org - ethanol-free gasoline in the U.S. and Canada Looking to see where the closest might be.
Pure-gas.org - ethanol-free gasoline in the U.S. and Canada It does list places that sell true fuel and such so some research might be needed to get it from the pump.
I've never used higher octane fuels in small engines. Are they ok with 91+ octane? I did find an AV-Gas airpark on Cape Cod that sells UL-94 (I'm not familiar with the UL designation but will check shortly. ) I don't live on the cape but the family has a summer place not far from the airpark.
Thanks, I will check them as well. Good excuse to go by the gun store I did find a gas station in Hudson NH that is 20 miles away, but they also sell beer so there's that. Maybe next week after the snowmagedon/ pandemonium has ended.
I'm not sure about now but about 20 years ago a buddy worked for an airport and he was able to buy their gas but it was low lead. Worked great for his classic 70s car that was originally designed to have lead in the gas. Edit: I would have to guess that UL-94 is unleaded. I think what he got was 100-LL.
No modern engine needs leaded fuel...and no 2 stroke ever needed it. High octane fuel will not hurt any of our engines, however, if you do have some super high performance engine with high compression and advanced spark timing, it may actually need that high octane fuel. Oh, and contrary to popular belief, high octane fuel will not give you more power...if the engine doesn't need it, it can actually make a bit less power! Octane just helps control how the fuel burns in the cylinder (actually slows it down a bit)
Burnin Since 1991 UL-94 Should be un-leaded 94 octane or slightly more than regular Super at 93 back to snow blowers they are predicting over a foot here so..
I put the new paddles on the 522. However even though it ran great when the paddles shattered it now just sits there and hunts .......
It’s not cheap but for me it’s convenient enough to go to one of the participating Sunoco stations and buy one of their 5 gallon cans. Find Race Fuel Near Me | Sunoco Race Fuels
Gotta love what marketing does to the human brain... Try to explain that octane actually increases fuels resistance to burn, it's flash point is higher, to someone who believes octane increases power and you'll leave feeling dumber. In theory, running a higher octane fuel where it's not needed could actually reduce power. Not sure if it holds true on a dyno or what size/piston configuration engine it might affect.
I always had to chuckle when I'd overhear a couple young guys talking about the latest mods on their 2/3/4 wheeled dirt cruiser (or street) at the bike shop...usually starts with a KN filter, a DG (or lesser) aftermarket exhaust (the louder the better, that always means more power!!) and the cherry on top was always that high octane gas...couldn't keep the front tire(s) on the ground after that went in the tank! And half the time when you actually seen/rode their machine, it was a dog...no faster than stock, maybe slower...just loud. As with anything, doesn't matter how much power you make if you don't have the proper setup to put it to the ground, and the chassis setup to maintain a competitive speed...not to mention rider skill. Anyways...I could go on, but enough of my derail...
I like to use it in saws that sit for extended periods. Like my Husky 288. I haven’t run that since August or September, and probably won’t for a few more months. I don’t want to have to deal with bad gas when I’m ready to use it again. To me that’s worth the extra money.
