last old simplicity I reworked I ended up having to torch the wheels off the axles, I even made a puller out of 1/4" plate all it did was make nice "U" bolts out that and the hubs were red hot. Carb has now succumbed to the ethanol death- have a replacement carb ( briggs motor) if as the tecumseh mill I would not bother, but no time to dink with it.
It should do nicely in the snow. It has been done! I took a fluid film bath... There is a bend in the sheet metal just below the rubber it hits nicely the rest of the way around and was defining for about 2 minutes of burn in time. After I added the plastic shoot back on it got loud again and may break the clip inside but I don’t much care it doesn’t do anything at all the bolts hold everything right.
Also in the tear down I discovered to my dismay that the auger belt on it from the factory was a vbelt with drive teeth. The blower has no drive teeth and is simply a v belt. The assumption here is that they used what they had at the moment to get it out the door. After I stuck a regular v belt in the impeller got MUCH faster.... it is noticeable how much more power it has now vs before.
After two wet snow blows today I can say it throws about 10’ when wet and heavy compared to just falling out of the shoot before that. It appears to work great!
I have a toro snowblower. The 8HP tecumseh started 1-2 pulls after every summer. It did run a little rough for the first couple of uses but settled out. I’ve heard stories of people that love and hate them. Glad you got your working better. Might need it a lot this winter, never know!
Just fired up my Troy bilt. Started right up for me, thankfully. Hoping to change the oil before needing to use.
I used mine for the second time yesterday. Wait till the snow is powder. Put a big smile on face when the wind took the snow into my neighbors driveway.
SnowMaster | Toro this new toro snowmaster has me intrigued. It’s supposed to be faster than a 2 stage and more capable than a conventional single stage. For the snow storms in central Michigan, I think it would be more than capable.
been out a couple years already, MY only gripe is the personal pace stuff- seems there is something going on there because I see so many personal pace mowers up for sale + I have a friend that had one and was not happy with it. I consider it about akin to the adaptive steering system and Four wheel drive on my little suv. Had it a couple years now still do not know who it has adapted to. particularly the 4wd When it comes to Winter weather in WI, I prefer the KISS principal.
The personal pace is a main reason I’m interested in this new snowblower. The old school friction disc drive system is slow for my average amount of snowfall.
On a different subject, those mud flaps make good top cover on stacks- the ones from semi trailers don’t usually blow away.
