I'm in central indiana and we have record cold and snow. For 2 days straight I have been out plowing 12 inches of snow that fell wet and quickly turned into powder thanks to a 50 degree temp drop in less than 24 hours. Wind chill here is -40. 5 days ago we got another 6 inches of snow. Well some may know that I adopted a yellow lab earlier this year. Guess what I learned? Dogs don't like to crap in 18+ inches of snow no matter how tall he is. He sh% ts on the patio! So now I have to get out there and snow blow the freakin back yard! My neighbor has a nice big blower with good feet on it but still frustrating. Guess I'm just venting. He's a great dog and we'll worth the extra effort. Pics attached. Nice pup bocefus. He looks tons like my Casper. Funny though, ours seem to search for the deep stuff to do their business. It's best when they go in the woods instead of the yard. Thanks for the pic exclusion. I've seen enough around here, and I REALLY don't like spring, since it takes a couple days at least, to clean up.
looks like you have been busy. You guys can have the snow and cold, although some of it has leaked to the east coast this year. 10 above here today, wind chill to below 0. No snow in the forecast
Yep we have 3 dachshunds and I have to carry 2 of them outside or they won't leave the house. And then the do their business on the porch or walkway.
Nice dog..... I feel your pain... I have two jack russels and a shepard mix ... We have a doggie door with a 6 foot ramp that goes down into the fenced yard.. So with 15 inches of snow,,, you got it, the yard has no less snow then the ramp,, so the ramp it is... So I have to do the same thing.. My Kubota tractor won't fit through the double chain link gates... so I had to use my 300 dollar 1032 Airens Snowblower.. Of course the guy that had it before me broke the starter rope and just used what was left so it's a short pull and will only start the girl unless it's warm .. Electric start worked great until it was -9 out when I went to clear the dog yard.. So outside -9 i take the starter motor off, bring it in the house , check the brushes , lube the drive with gun lube, back out and on. Starter turns over and away I go, all this so I can clean the dogs yard so they don't use the ramp... I can leave the gate open so they go out on the farm here , but with the deep snow they just use the ramp... So I felt your pain... 7 degrees out today with a minus -17 windchill.. blowing with gust up to 36mph.. I laughed when I read your post Bocefus..
The one dachshund we still have doesn't venture too far from the front door when it's this cold. Heck, I have to coax him to go out. He's right back at the front door after he's done his thing. Whining, then barking. He's quite a character. I should take a pic of all the yellow snow.
The worst part is that he will play in the deep stuff and walk up to the patio to do the deed. I've noticed today that he doesn't like the snow packing in his paws either.
Our Goldendoodle loves it outside this time of year, we can hardly get her in. Our Golden normally likes it when it is cold outside but he is getting older and wiser! The Pitbull just runs out and does her stuff and runs back in. Gary
