I would chip or chunk it up and soak before adding to the smoker or grill. Mild like Maple & Beech which is exactly the way I like it.
Your a lucky man! very cool! We have a small grape arbor in our yard but only pruning's off of it, no real size wood. Let us know how you like it when you do something!
The chunks are about 3 inches in diameter. I read you have to use it sparingly because it can get pungent, so I'm unsure what meats to try it on. I did a Boston butt last week using plum and it was awesome. I might try another one with the grape. Will keep you posted.
