Ill never turn to the dark side. A simple "your welcome" wouldve sufficed! Doing any cutting this weekend?
My 346xp is my smallest saw. Love that little ripper. Have done quite a bit of limbing with it and also cut through some pretty big stuff too when it was my only saw.
Went back today and finished cutting up the downed tree, got all the limb wood and part of the trunk split up and loaded. Got probably a very full truck load left of the trunk... Just got to get it split and loaded, Also dropped the tree next to it, it's bigger then I thought, probably around 30" dia trunk, used the 372xp with the 24" bar and had to cut from both sides to drop it. Was there a few hours and I was drained, probably back at it Monday. Got 30 bales of hay to hual home tomorrow, also have a tree company coming at 10:30 to give me a quote to drop a pine tree at our house, it's right next to the power line, house, and some limbs are in the tree next to it I ain't chancing that one!
The Norwegian part of me doesn't want to deal with swedish products from a parent company that makes vacuum cleaners. That's all.
Not one bad thing bad to say about my little one. ( don't go there talking about ms170) For what it is it has performed great for what it is. Does anyone know if there is a replacement chain in the .043 gauge like what they have on that saw that is not the safety style chain that Stihl has on that saw? I love the Stihl RS chains but they don't have one that fits that saw. I run the RS on everything including my Huskys ( yes I did say Husky) the 170 is the only saw that has the Stihl green link on it. Would love to replace that with a normal chain.
I help out a lot of friends with dead or fallen trees in their yards. These "yard trees" trees typically have so many small little branches. I really prefer using my Husq 36 and little echo 306, so light in the hand and excellent to hold over your head or at odd angles. Leave the 60cc saws for the big wood is my opinion.
Nice job! It sure is nice to have a variety of different sizes. Sometimes the little guy is all you need to get the job done! I've got the ~30cc equivalent Makita 36v 14" cordless, then the 47cc Stihl 028 WB AV with a 18" bar, followed by the 61cc Stihl 034 Super with a 20" bar......and perhaps in my near future a 71cc 372xp with a 24" bar.
I had never touched a Husky before working on the (7) 372xp for my buddy.....and man, that is a beautiful saw to work on. Simple, easy to disassemble and reassemble, and a lot o' power. All these saws were beaten to death 3 times over.....but bringing back to life has been glorious - there's no other word for it! I think Husky or Stihl are both great.
A 372xp with a 24" bar with full chisel skip tooth is what I used to buck the main trunk and it took all of the 24" bar. They are a nice saw, you would be happy with it!
Back at her again today, figured I would split up the rest of the trunk and get started on the other tree... Not so much, definitely does not split like the red oak I have been use to lately! Wavy with lots of knots. So split for a little over an hour and got 1/2 the trunk done. My shoulder said it was done so I called it a day. What is left What I got done. What is waiting for me next. Guessing about 30"dia, forgot to bring my tape measure with.
I just checked the .043 on my 201's and 194. One was yellow label picco micro (semi chisel) the other was green label picco super (full chisel). I recall buying one or more of those extras at giant joke and recall them telling me yellow label full chisel not made in .043 guage. I did order Stihl chain made in Mexico...turns out it was picco de gallo! Wonder if metalcuttr will see this one?
I will have to double check my numbers and give them a call. I know that Stihl calls it PMM ( pico micro mini ) but forget what bar size I have. I should also look at my ms192 and see whats actually on there.
Exactly. I have a little 10” electric cheapie from Harbor freight to wade into the middle of a bunch of branches to de-limb a much larger, fallen trunk. Works great for the pine and fir we have around here. It’s a lot easier and lighter to maneuver in that sea of branches than my 20” Stihl.
Helps hide the rust The whole body on the truck is rusted out, was a farm truck before I bought it, but good frame, runs great, just hauled 2 20k loads with it on Saturday and was able to pay cash for it. So I can't complain.
