Sledding Season 2014/2015

Yeah, feeling nearly normal, but don't have my full strength or appetite back. Those are hand in hand I'm sure.

Get some riding in while you can. Our forecast shows mid 60s Friday and Monday. 40s in between that for highs with not so cold lows.

 

This Saturday/Saturday evening, about four inches of snow with 0.31 inches of ice, lets hope the ice part changes.

 

The sledding seasoned ended April 1st so we locked our gate, after four inches of new snow some jerks took there sleds up through and around our gate through the trail on our property.

It just shows you why people don't allow them to use their property.

I did get a pic of his truck and license plate number, his trailer has no plates.

We'll be sending an email to the head of the snowmobile association, we'll ask for a gate up further where they can't get around it, if they won't, we won't be part of the county trail.

The trails close down April 1st, we closed/locked the gate on April second because of the lack of snow. We didn't want the four wheeler's getting up through tearing up everything.

I will fill that area they went around the gate with junk wood, real high!

 

See those are the idiots that ruin it for the people that obey the few rules snowmobiling has. That's probably the most important rule that was broken.
Respect the landowners, or you don't have trails to ride on.

 

We finally took the sleds out on our property (first 4 pics) and then to the State Park (no pics) and then up the County Trail to the first opening. The section of County Trail we took was rough (lack of snow in this area) with some water running across it.

We took a small ride (about 9 miles) today, the first picture is heading to a trail that brings you into the state park, the second picture is on the trail in the state park and the third is a picture on our property.

 

I took an afternoon ride to the state park (first two pics) and then on our property.

 

Maybe 4-5 on our property at the most, on the county trails because of the use it gets, less.

You'll have a blast.

 

I don't have any pictures (batteries were dead) but we took the sleds out for 30 miles today. The last snow that fell was sugar snow so some of the trails were good and others were so so, there are certain areas with rocks still showing so lets hope we get about six inches of the heavy wet snow.

 

Since I didn't have the batteries charged for our last trip out, I charged them overnight. I loaded the batteries in the camera this morning and we took off on the sleds but on our first stop for a picture....the camera wouldn't work so I checked the batteries...they were in correctly so no pics again.

It was nice busting some trails after we received 4-5 inches overnight.

 

Nothing like riding fresh snow!

I record and take pics but never get around to going through them all!
I have 3 64gig cards full of video of riding with another 120 or so on and external hard drive from this year using the go pro covering over 700 miles!

After riding the foot of powder from the last storm I finally ordered a new track! I kept putting it off thinking it'd be a bust of a season.

 

Nice to see that you guys are getting to ride!!! It's been a bad year for snow in the Laurel Mountain Ridge. No base and the little bit of snow that we end up getting melts the next day. I've put 10-12 miles on at camp 3 times just going back and forth through a 1/4 mile long field.

Have to ride when you can!
Hopefully the whole northeast can get wholloped. Before spring arrives.

Just the cost of registration and insurance makes me feel like I have to get my money's worth.
We've been taking Fridays and a few midweek days to go to avoid the crazies, driving an hour for good snow. I have more miles ony trailer than my sled
With the new snow we can finally ride local with a few different dinner destinations.
