I thought I read that old saw had a 42 on it... he might have more than 1 bar though.. I haven't met Scott yet but he look like a well built guy and I've met Dennis who is at least 6 foot and in pic Scott's a Lil taller.. Internet deciphering Goin on here ... OK call in Eric VW whose met both for a cause I know he's made Dennis gtg and took pics plus he's usually answers quick

Thanks everyone. It ain't often I get to take the Stihl Contra for a ride, so some pics were in order.... Tony took the logs and will try to mill what he can, should get some lumber out of it. As for firewood, just the tops of the tree yielded around 3 full cord of wood.....the homeowner will put it to good use.....
I would have guessed it was older... It was a big one. Lots of branches to clean up with that big top. I liked the pic of the trunk coming down, sure looks like it was going to hit the house in the pic. Nice job. Cant believe you didn't take some of those big rounds. You could have split a bunch of square ends for your stacks!
Believe me, I've got plenty of big rounds here at the house to split yet... It WAS tempting, though....lol
It was pretty much straight up. We just put a little tension on the cable made the full cut. The Scotty Overkill went to the truck and gave a little pull while I ran the video. We did cut a few cookies off the base, I gave one to my neighbor so he can make a table out of it! He does alot of wood working and he is helping make my trim for my kitchen (when I am ready because the remodel has been a painful process) it was kind of a thank you.
You boy's sure do make some big cookies in PA When did that split show up in the stump log? Couldn't see it in the first few pics. Heluva nice job edit; I see it, "split when it hit"
We cut the butt log into two 6'6" logs. After Scotty Overkill went home I stayed to help my cousin load the last two logs and WOW were they heavy we had to use his skid steer and the winch on the log trailer in tandem just to get them on the trailer and it was still a struggle! Here are some pictures that my cousin over at Footlong Milling and excavating sent me. The logs as they sit are too big for his mill so he has to trim them down to a 36" cant! Loading the two cookies in the back of my truck that basically destroyed my tailgate when I pulled out and stopped even though I went easy. They probably weight about 300 pounds a piece! Here is a piece live edge wood that my cousin milled for my neighbor the wood worker. He does beautiful work. I'll bet him and Shawn Curry would gwt along real well!
Thanks. The split actually happened when it hit the ground, the butt actually hit a feeder root which I think was the cause. I was standing about 30' away and the ground really shook beneath my feet when it hit. A neighbor a block away came down to check out the situation because he hear the thump from in his house. Yeah it was a thump alright!
