I wish my local Achilles Agway would carry more than NEWPS. And they way overcharge for those middling pellets considering the plant is 17 miles away.

Was there yesterday, missed the pile as I used the lumber entrance. Did they have a lot of stock in back?

I unfortunately didn’t check. However, I’ll probably be there next week and will take a look out back.

I watch NewEnglandOil.com. In Southern NH, home heating oil has increased by $0.20 per day this week.
    It is now $5.00/gal.

    I use cash heating oil.com.
Was down less than $3/G a couple weeks ago, now back up to $4.78/G for my area. Type in your zip and they find the cheapest oil in your area.....

Cheap is a relative term today. I don't consider any petroleum fuel cheap today. Heck, I'm paying $4.50 for off road diesel right now for the tractors and standby generator.

Unbelieveable. Home heating oil prices increased by 50 cents the later part of this week.
In New England, HHO oil is now about $5.50/gal. The heating season has not really started yet,
and the coldest weather is months before us.

Don't want to 'like' that comment because there is nothing likeable about it but that is getting insane, kind of like motor fuel. Least wood pellets here have not went up all that much, went up a tad but nowhere near that increase.

I should probably buy a couple more skids of pellets, who know what they will cost next year.

I have a huge pile of saw logs in the side yard from storm damaged trees but no chunk wood burner and I'm about to add to it, a large maple needs to come down and a dead apple tree as well.

I know what you mean that it is hard to click on the like button. The price trend of home heating oil is going to be
painful for some people. I do like that our fellow forum members share the information. It helps me feel less guilty
about being the pellet pig that I am :)

makes me feel less guilty being the cordwood hoarder that I am.
I really do desire for more people to begin burning wood.

If I owned a woodstove, right now I probably would in as much as I have a rather huge pile of hardwood and maple saw logs sitting in the side yard. I don't however, so it all goes to my woodcutter friend who splits it and sells it to the local campgrounds. Think I'll have him bring his splitter over this time. Some of the logs are 30" in diameter. He wants them all cut to 21" long and I help with that, why I marked the bar on the saw at 21" Still have another large maple behind the shop that needs cut down. When I planted it, I didn't realize how dirty it was. Always loosing leaves and 'helicopters' on the cars and clogging up the cowls and hidden windshield wipers. it's outta there once the leaves are off plus I have a couple dead apple trees that need to be gone as well.

I find the biomass to be easier to deal with especially the fact that I get free corn to roast as well.

Just started the stove a few minutes ago. Was nice and sunny all day and the house was a comfortable 70 but the sun went down and the wind picked up and the temp dropped to 67 and the wife was whining so I lit it up. Besides the house cats were all glaring at me...lol They like to stretch out in front of the stove.

Running straight pellets presently. Won't start running corn until it gets really cold because running corn will roast us out with the heat.

Picked the last of the green beans today, still have to dig taters and onions. I really need a hard freeze to kill off all the potato vines. I'd say it will be an excellent potato harvest by the amount of vines I had. Got every variety we like from Red Pontiacs to Norgold Russets to Kennebeck's to Idaho's. We have excellent potato ground here, sandy loam, well drained. Every year I'm good for at least a couple hundred pounds of spuds.

So far, I have not used much propane, furnace has not been on at all, but my shop floor heat has been running a bit.

Getting toasty in here now, wife is happy, cats are happy. Happy wife, happy life.

For people with limited funds, this winter will be some hard choices, choice between staying warm and eating something other than Kennel Ration, though I've been told it tastes like corned beef hash. Never tried it personally.

Going to the grocery today is a 500 buck adventure. Between that and filling up the buggies (we have 3 of them), it's getting quite expensive. Making my wife park her Suburban in the garage for the winter. Sucker costs 70 bucks to fill it. She can drive the 'Rusto-Van', it gets 28. Not pretty but I just put on new tires, new brakes all around, new shocks too. Good until it breaks in half now. I'm motoring my Ford Focus 5 speed, it gets 40 and I'm good with that. besides, we don't really go anywhere, anyway. Big trip for us is out to eat once a week. Even that is getting expensive. Used to be 20 bucks for 2, now it's 35 for the same thing.

Used up the last of my off road diesel today, need to get the tank filled. Even with no use tax that will be a 2000 buck fill. Thanks Biden... and I won't say anymore.

so we're doubling up on purchases of things that store well, and that we'll use.
B & C oil, 2 cycle, gloves, matches lighters, nails, screws, whatever other consumables we can grab 1 or 2 extra when funds permit.
got a few extra oil filters for the truck, extra oil and a spare battery next time.

Those are excellent prices for New England where everything is usually higher (than here in the Midwest) for some reason. Don't know about the quality of those pellets, not sold around here at all.

I've always chuckled about 'blurbs and claims on pellet fuel bags,,,,lol What is higher heat value anyway? Never list the btu output per given volume, ever.

What I like to do is watch when Rock Auto has a sale on oil filters for my buggies and buy 4 or 5 of each flavor at a time. Usually quite a bit less the the local auto parts emporiums.
