It's 27 heading down to 21 tonight so we have a nice load of beech and sugar maple going.

The pellet stove is unplugged for the year, we brought home 52 bags but only burned 47 this heating season.

Not really that cold for Maine, but note the disparity between the indoor and outdoor temperature: a difference of 90 degrees.

I can only imagine my ancestors some 200 years ago only imagining they could step through the front door of their log cabins dug into a hillside, and having a temperature swing that extravagant. Not to mention our homes being 8 times the size!!

We're at 33 tonight so we'll go with some soft maple with about three splits of beech.

We still have four splits of oak left so we'll burn two splits on Saturday and Sunday night with some beech, it's suppose to drop down between 17 - 19 each night.

We still have just under two face cord of shoulder season wood we planned on burning this year along with just under two face cord of beech, sugar maple and soft maple that we had planned on burning.
