I can have it load tested tomorrow, when I pick up my truck from the shop.

Horkn and brenndatomu, you guy's have thrown some great suggestions my way. I'm going to call the dealer about the battery, and have it load tested. I'm kind of leaning toward putting a car battery in it, well actually a boat battery (LOL), for a few weeks and see how that works out. I think that will tell me a lot about which way I want to go for a battery.

There's no kill switch. From the factory anyway.

Geez. I’ve run Heli’s on mine for the past 15 years. Went down on track and bent(not broke) one side. Welds didn’t budge. Replaced them with another set. Ymmv I guess.

I know, it wasn't good luck that's all I can say. They were on the TL basically from new, about 18 yrs. Never down, no idea except that they had some chump weld them when they were made. Like I said, the customer service could've been a lot better, engineering pulled a duck move, and I had my QC Dept guy test the failed riser and he confirmed the weld was bad from the factory. I've got Driven brand risers on it now. They look better, are lighter, have end sliders, adjustable angle, have replaceable bars, can't rust, there's no welds to fail, and from what I can see, they are just better.

I participate sans o0pinion. I have opinions about stuff, just not lubricants, chassis grease or starting batteries. I use what works for me and I don't expound the virtues or negatives about them.

    How's that?

You buy what you want and if it don't work as planned, don't whine about it, fix the issue.

A follow up on this discussion. My battery load tested ok, I didn't bother calling the dealer, as I really didn't think they'd be helpful. The regulator is putting out 14.5 volts. I went to put my boat battery in it temporarily, and decided the modifications I would need to do wasn't worth it, it didn't help being teen degrees that day. And I need my boat next week for trout fishing.

I opted for the Deka battery that brenndatomu found on ebay. It was delivered yesterday and with minimal modification I installed it. I think it will do the job on those coldest days that we get here.

Thank you to everyone for their input! :handshake:

Deka are good jars. I'd put a trickle charger on it as a precaution. A Delttran Battery Tender is what I use on my batteries.

Yes, using a trickle / float charger is very good practice for machines like this.

I got a small solar panel charger from Harbor Freight, I keep it connected to the battery in my UTV. It seems to keep the battery charged.

Our side by side has to go to the dealer for a couple recalls. Not sure what they are but I'll have them service it while they have it. My cab M9 also has to go there to get thye new bailer computer installed and the old one removed. Everything today is computer driven except my tractors, they are both 100% mechanical.

Candidly, I cannot either and we have an ITC card and a HF credit card as well, but I don't buy the cheap crap. I'm a Doyle, Icon, Bauer person. Love the ITC card, worth the annual fee for us. We always peruse the ITC for sale stuff.

I have a solar panel with a charge controller I picked up off Amazon. It works well for keeping the ATV battery topped up since the shed does not have power. I think I’ve had it almost two years now.
