Will, real nice basement area you have there. Looks enough to be comfortable, but adequate to do some tinkering around without worrying about it getting messy.

Pretty much everything that is wood trim was white when we bought the house. We stripped the wood and fully gutted this room. Restored to the 1910 - 1920's era. The mantle is original to the house and three-sided. Yeah, that was painted white too.

    And during the holiday season.

Here are few pics of my stove rooms. I'm running out of rooms to put fires in.
First is my Blaze King Ashford
    Then my Lopi Cape Cod
    And finally my soapstone fireplace.

That Ashford is the same size as the Princess, right? Does the more conventional design change how the stove burns?

It shares the same firebox as the Chinook/Sirocco 30. It essentially is the Sirocco 30 with a cast jacket. I have barely got the painted cured yet, so I don't know too much about how it runs yet.

Hey guys, this is a great thread! I hope it's all right to introduce myself here, and post a couple pics of my wood stoves.

My name is Steve, and/or oldhippie and I live in Ashby Massachusetts. That's right on the New Hampshire border in north central Mass. It gets cold here in the winter time. I've been burning since 79 when I built the home I still live in with my lovely wife, the son and daughter are grown and gone. I retired last year from the computer industry. These days I ride my motorcycles, hoard wood, snow ski in the winter and hack at the 6 string guitar and old Dylan songs.

I had a Garrison One on this first hearth up until a month ago, when I drove up to Lebanon NH and brought this one home.

I have a 20+ foot cathedral ceiling, and the bricks in the hearth are from an old plastic factory that burned down in the town I grew up in, Fitchburg Massachusetts. I helped a grizzly old brick layer build that hearth in 1979. It's a beautiful room with a view for hanging around on cold winter days and drinking great french roast and listening to tunes on my nice little mid range home-theater/stereo system.

We'll back up a bit.. for a better view.

This is my grand-puppy, Capote in the pics. He approves of the stoves.. and is ready to settle in when it gets cold enough to light up. In the mean time, he just finds a sunny spot from the skylight and takes a little nap.

That's the kitchen on the back side of the house. A guy doesn't want to be too far away from the fridge while he's listening to some fine music..

Or some classic rock. ..I gotta' a lot of hobbies.

This is my stove downstairs in the "family room". I picked up this VC Resolute Acclaim a couple years ago from a neighbor who didn't know how much work wood was. It needed a new combustor and some gaskets. Previously I had an old CDW in it's place.

Here's a arty pic of the old Garrison One.. that did me fine for 30+ years.

..and a Christmas pic to get you all int e mood.

So sorry for taking up all the time, just figured this would be a good intro.
